NASHVILLE — Nashville Mayor Freddie O’Connell (D) is facing accusations from Trump administration officials and conservative lawmakers that he exposed the identities of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents by making their personally identifiable information public. The controversy comes as O’Connell is under federal investigation for allegedly obstructing ICE operations and providing aid to illegal immigrants.

A Fox 17 News investigation revealed that the mayor’s office published records detailing ICE communications with local emergency services, including the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department (MNPD). The records reportedly included names of federal agents:

Mayor O’Connell is under the microscope following his actions during the mid-state crackdown on illegal immigrants by ICE and the Tennessee Highway Patrol.

Congressman Andy Ogles said the Mayor is interfering with justice, listing several concerns.

He said the biggest is releasing the information of the names of federal immigration officials. We discovered some locations of their encounters with emergency services departments like MNPD were also posted.

U.S. Rep. Andy Ogles (R-Tenn.), whose district includes much of the Nashville area, condemned the disclosures as a serious security breach. “He can have his woke righteousness, but when somebody gets hurt because he’s putting ICE names and locations out on the internet, there could be criminal and civil penalties that ensue,” said Ogles. O’Connell defended the release, claiming the information was shared in the interest of government transparency.

After the report aired, the mayor’s office confirmed it had removed any names that may have been inadvertently disclosed online.

The incident has triggered broader scrutiny. Earlier this week, Ogles called on the House Judiciary and Homeland Security committees to launch an inquiry into whether O’Connell instructed city departments to interfere with or surveil ICE activity in the city. Both committees have reportedly agreed to investigate.

Tricia McLaughlin, assistant secretary for public affairs at the Department of Homeland Security, told Newsmax the breach was not accidental. She alleged that the disclosure amounted to handing over intelligence to criminal gangs and promised that consequences would follow.

The accusations come amid a spike in violence targeting ICE agents. According to officials, assaults on agents have risen 400%, a surge attributed to politically motivated exposure tactics that compromise agent safety and embolden extremists.

If the Republican admin doesn’t prosecute this guy, then no one’s going to vote for them in 2026. So far, there’s been a lot of noise, but no one is even being subpoenad, much less prosecuted. Republican fail!
