U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) lodged a detainer request on a man arrested after a stabbing spree in Northern California.
According to ICE, Carlos Reales-Dominguez illegally entered the United States from El Salvador as an unaccompanied minor in 2009.
Dominguez, 21, attended UC Davis until recently. After being “separated for academic reasons” on April 25, the former third-year student reportedly went on a killing spree.
The Davis Police Department says he stabbed three people in separate incidents between April 27 and May 1, killing two and attempting to kill a third.
The university urged the community not to rush to judgment in a statement. “We are grateful for law enforcement’s quick response and resolution during an extremely difficult period for the city and campus,” it added.

Those killed include David Breaux and Karim Abou Najm, and a third victim, Kimberlee Guillory, is still in the hospital.
“I’m grateful that I’m alive and that I wasn’t killed,” Guillory said from her hospital bed at UC Davis Medical Center. “I was so scared when he started punching me. I thought that’s what he was doing, was punching me. I didn’t realize he was stabbing me until afterwards. Everything just went kind of black from there.”
“I’m glad that they got him. I was praying for that, that nobody else will have to go through this,” she added. “Me and the other two victims never did anything to him. There was no reason for him to come after people that that he didn’t even know.”
