Apparently unsatisfied with the Israel-Hamas truce, pro-Palestinian protesters forced the Marcy's Thanksgiving Day parade to a temporary halt.
By gluing themselves to the street.
Per Mediaite:
According to New York ABC affiliate WABC, the protest broke out at approximately 10 a.m. ET, roughly 90 minutes after it began. It happened on West 45th street and 6th Avenue — approximately 11 blocks uptown from the end of the route which is featured during NBC's coverage.
Per the WABC report, roughly 30 protesters were demonstrating along the route when several jumped police barricades and appeared to glue themselves to the street. They were clad in white jumpsuits stained in fake blood, with words including “colonialism” imprinted.
The parade was briefly stopped as the NYPD removed the protesters and took them into custody.
Further, NBC News reports a float which carried members of the Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe of Massachusetts displayed a Palestinian flag at one point, as they made their way down the parade route.
The annual parade has become a hallmark of New York's holiday season and viewed by millions nationwide. Last year's live telecast recorded 22.3 million viewers.
