Following a weekend full of shootings, at least one prominent Democrat has publicly called for unprecedented gun control.
At a press conference early Tuesday morning, Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kenney said only the police should have guns.
Kenney’s remarks came in front of a hospital where doctors were treating two police officers for gunshot wounds sustained at a Fourth of July fireworks celebration Monday night.
Kenney added that he’s looking forward to retirement so he won’t have to deal with gun violence anymore.

“I’m concerned every single day,” the mayor said just after midnight Tuesday morning, alongside Philadelphia Police Commissioner Danielle Outlaw. “I’ll be happy when I’m not the mayor,” he added.

The mayor said he recently visited Canada and remarked that gun violence did not once cross his mind.
“I was in Canada two weeks ago and never thought about a gun,” he said. “The only people I knew who had guns in Canada were police officers.”
“That’s the way it should be here,” Kenney stated, before saying such an idea was “never going to happen” in his lifetime.
The mayor then suggested that he would unilaterally disarm his citizens if he could:
“If I had the ability to take care of guns, I would. But the legislature won’t let us. Congress won’t let us. The governor does the best he can [and] the attorney general does the best he can, but this is a gun country.”
The mayor’s comments to the press came hours after a deranged young man killed six people at an Independence Day parade in Highland Park, Illinois.
Appearing on the “Today” show this morning, Highland Park Mayor Nancy Rotering told host Hoda Kotb that the gun in Monday’s massacre had been obtained legally — in accordance with Illinois’ strict gun laws.

It looks to me like all of the gun control in the world won’t stop the killings and murders. This proves that she is a Democrat as they can only see what is in front of them. The gun did not do it. A deranged young 21 year old male committed the crime. What did the law enforcement miss or disregard so he was able to buy a firearm. For GOD’s sake, will somebody wake these people up before it is too late. It is the person behind the gun that kills, like Alec Baldwin did. He is still trying to blame the gun in the shooting of that nice young woman on the movie set. The gun is but a tool and used properly it will protect you. To say that the police should only have guns is ludicrous as they only get to a crime ten minutes after it has happened. That makes as much sense as “GUN FREE ZONES”, which make sure that only criminals are allowed in with guns while law abiding citizens with guns are not.
You know who else thought only police should have guns? Every homicidal dictator in recorded history.

True shame mayor Kenney wasn’t among the fatal victims. If attackers would focus on the filth and cause of problems, mayors and their evil administrations would be the fatal victims. It can be viewed as a public service when SOROS owned AGs want to let them go.

Is the Philly mayor saying the military should not have guns? And if he believes, like so many of the radical leftists, that all police are corrupt and racist, why would he want any of them to have guns? And btw, plenty of Canadians have guns – they just aren’t allowed to have handguns and they aren’t allowed to carry any guns around except when out hunting in the field. And has he already forgotten about the mass shooting in Nova Scotia in May of 2020?
Isn’t it strange…he wasn’t afraid of “gun violence” (a total oxymoron since guns are inanimate objects and cannot be violent) the entire time he was in Canada because he thinks nobody up there has guns except for the police. I carry a gun everyday and I am not afraid of violent people with guns because, if they show up and start trouble, I have a way to fight back and stop them. I guess it’s all a matter of your point of view and your willingness to take responsibility for your own safety. It is too bad somebody that irresponsible is in a position of power.

This is the same thing they say every time there is a shooting of any kind. Their solution is to disarm the citizens who obey the law and turn those who don’t loose from jail. Meanwhile the news glorifies the shooters and gives them their 15 minutes of fame, what they wanted or sometimes the police obligingly kill them so they don’t need to kill themselves which they intended anyway. These guys just don’t get it that these kind of events make us gun owners just as mad as them but to show us how they well the understand it, places like New York are passing laws that make it impossible for a gun owner to ever come to anyone’s aid. They have made everywhere except maybe the middle of the street and your car a no gun zone. The only ones with guns in New York city will be the criminals, once again. Watch their numbers soar.
Are people like that Philly guy really as dumb as they sound when they make statements like that? If nobody but the cops could legally have guns that would leave them and the criminals who would have guns since they don’t care or obey laws anyway. When are they going to admit that it’s not the guns, it’s the people behind the guns? You could fill the ballpark with weapons and they wouldn’t kill anyone, but as soon as a person picks them up it’s a different story. Him, and other people like him, should never hold elected office because they are all part of the problem.

The analogy that occurs to me is that in 2020 aprox. 11,654 people were killed in drunk driving incidents. Last year it was more, like aprox. 14,000 people killed. These mass shootings are unspeakable, horrific, terrible. But the demographics are the same- innocent victims. Where is the outrage in this? Should we take away all cars because this happens? Should we sue the car makers because some idiot decides to drive drunk? Same thing. It’s the deranged shooter who is to blame, not the gun. Don’t punish me, a law-abiding citizen who just wants to protect my family, from criminals, (and the government) because some loony goes nuts. It’s not right.
