Report: Detained Congressman Threatened To Assault State Trooper, ‘Bury’ Sheriff

-

Rep. (R-) allegedly threatened to beat up a state trooper and end the career of the Carson County sheriff during his detainment at a Texas Panhandle rodeo last month. On Friday, the sheriff's office disclosed the incident report in response to a public information request.

Jackson was briefly detained amid confusion while attempting to assist a member of the audience having a seizure. He previously served as Physician to Presidents Obama and Trump before representing Texas' reliably conservative 13th Congressional District. The Texas Tribune has more on the altercation involving the Amarillo Republican:

The report said that Jackson screamed profanities at deputies who were trying to clear the area for emergency medical workers to attend to a teenager who was having a seizure. Deputies asked the former White House physician to step back four times before they put Jackson in handcuffs, according to their reports.

After the congressman was released, he demanded Carson County Sheriff call him and investigate the incident. During that call, Terry, a Republican, said that Jackson warned him that he would “bury me in the next election.”

The events described in the report starkly contrasted with the congressman's public statement just days after the July 29 incident. A spokesperson for Jackson said at the time that he was detained amid a “very loud and chaotic environment” and was released as soon as realized he was trying to help. Notably the statement said Jackson was sitting “in the stands during the entire rodeo, in full view of the assembled crowd, and was not drinking.”

But according to an account from Chief Deputy JC Blackburn, the GOP congressman was seen drinking backstage of the rodeo event. A Jackson aide disputed that in a statement Friday.

“Congressman Jackson was not drinking and was prevented from giving medical care in a potentially life-threatening situation due to overly aggressive and incompetent actions by the local authorities present at the time of the incident,” maintained Jackson spokesperson Kate Lair. “Again, he was asked to help the teenager when no other uniformed medics were present. Congressman Jackson, as a trained ER physician, will not apologize for sparing no effort to help in a medical emergency, especially when the circumstances were chaotic and the local authorities refused to help the situation.”

According to the report, EMS asked Department of Public Safety Trooper Young to clear the crowd around the collapsed teenager. When Young ordered Jackson to step back, Deputy Alexander said an agitated Jackson pointed at Young and said “I'm going to beat that motherf*****s' a**!” (RELATED: State Trooper Uses Traffic Infractions To Teach Priceless Lesson)

The congressman later told Sheriff Terry that he gave the teen chewing gum to raise his blood sugar. However, EMT worker Kimberly Thomas noted that placing a gumball in a seizing patient's mouth is a choking hazard.

After continuing to yell profanities, deputies restrained the congressman on the ground and placed him in handcuffs. Officers escorted him off of the premises and then removed his handcuffs, though the report noted he continued to scream at Trooper Young.

Later that evening, Sheriff Terry received a text from the dispatch center saying that Congressman Jackson wanted “a phone call tonight.” Before allegedly threatening to “bury” Terry in the next election, the sheriff noted that Jackson demanded an investigation and consequences for the officers who detained him.

Law enforcement officials have not released body cam footage of the incident, but Sheriff Terry says he's reviewed their video and is satisfied with the officers' conduct.

  1. I don’t believe it. This sounds like The Sherriff trying to avoid being sued into oblivion…along with his Punk PO-PO Deputies.

    • I’m a retired LEO. I don’t know all the details, but I’ve seen incidents where cops do really stupid things like this. They sometimes get a bit carried away with imposing their authoritie instead of listening and understanding what’s actually going on. In a situation such as this, a real ER doctor would seem to take precedence over later-arriving EMTs and a few deputies.

      • You hit the nail on the head with the word stupid. A doctor’s on the scene and the fools want to wait for the EMTs to show up.

        • As the story detailed, the dumbass gave a seizing individual a piece of gum……have you ever seen a person seizing? You don’t give them gum. Ronny Jackson showed nothing but that he is a common thug using his position to intimidate, threaten and coerce a situation to make himself the hero instead of a thug! I would bet the officers cameras are going to tell a different story! Why would police officers lie when they are wearing body cameras……think about it. Why did Ronny act like a bully instead of a professional…giving gum to a sizing patient, screaming a cussing….sound like a belligerent drunk!

  2. From accounts of the people who watched what happened a more honest version is coming out. Ronnie Jackson was trying to save this person & to he cops were obstructing him from doing so along with another spectator who I believe was a nurse. That person also said they kept telling them they medical personnel & they wouldn’t listen.

  3. Was “bury” saying he was going to put him in the ground and cover him with dirt OR have him loose the election so bad (by endorsing someone else) (making being prevented from helping someone in medical emergency go viral – causing public to vote for someone else)

Still baad choice of words but could be taken/ intended either way.

    • Well of course globalists and their media and their demonrat criminal party are going to try to make the republican trying to assist a victim look as bad as their globalist puppet, god worshiping, demonrat criminal sheriff .

  4. glad I don’t live in Texas. SC may be small, but here in the Upstate of SC we have some of the best sherriff’s deputies you have ever seen.

  5. First.. I support first responders and Police Officers generally… However and Obviously the video shows a man giving first aide and then being interferred with by overzealous “authority” that typically harms more then they help. An individually bad EMT and or cop … should not cast shadows over the rest.

    • YES, he would have been in prison for promising to beat the globalist puppet, god worshiping, demonrat criminal sheriff in the next election .

  6. Only god and his globalists and his globalist puppets can make burying someone in an election an act of violence while refusing to arrest their globalist puppet, god worshiping, demonrat criminal voters . . . . . .
