The San Fransisco Police Department provided an update on the brazen attack on Mr. Paul Pelosi, 82, Friday morning.
Authorities responded to a “priority well-being check” at 2:27 am where they found Mr. Pelosi and David DePape, 42, who entered the residence through the back door before attacking Mr. Pelosi with a hammer.
San Francisco Police Chief William Scott said in a news conference, “The suspect pulled the hammer away from Mr. Pelosi and violently assaulted him with it. Our officers immediately tackled the suspect, disarmed him, took him into custody, requested emergency backup and rendered medical aid.”
Authorities have arrested DePape and charged him with attempted homicide and several other felony charges. Two of DePape’s relatives told CNN that DePape is estranged from his family but grew up in Powell River, British Columbia, and left Canada about 20 years ago to pursue a relationship that brought him to California.
Other sources who previously worked with DePape shared his behavior because increasingly worrisome over the past two years.
Linda Schneider said she got to know DePape roughly eight years ago and that he occasionally housesat for her in California. When they met, she said, DePape was living in a storage unit in the Berkeley area and told her he had been struggling with hard drugs but was “trying to create a new life for himself.”
Schneider later received “really disturbing” emails from DePape in which he sounded like a “megalomaniac and so out of touch with reality,” she said. She said she stopped communicating with him “because it seemed so dangerous,” adding that she recalled him “using Biblical justification to do harm.”
Laura Hayes, who also lives in California, said she worked with DePape for a few months about a decade ago making hemp bracelets when he was living in a storage shed in the Berkeley area. She said DePape sold the bracelets as a business.
“He was very odd. He didn’t make eye contact very well,” Hayes said.
Pelosi who suffered blunt force trauma to his head and body and is being treated for bruising, severe swelling, and other injuries is expected to make a”full recovery.”
Authorities have not identified a motive for the crime yet. DePape was charged with attempted homicide, assault with a deadly weapon, elder abuse, verbal and several other additional felonies.
However, early reports indicated DePape was searching for the Speaker and asked “Where is Nancy? Where is Nancy?” when he entered the residence yielding a hammer.
Pelosi spokesperson Drew Hammill released the following statement regarding the attack:
“Early this morning, an assailant broke into the Pelosi residence in San Francisco and violently assaulted Mr. Pelosi. The assailant is in custody and the motivation for the attack is under investigation. Mr. Pelosi was taken to the hospital, where he is receiving excellent medical care and is expected to make a full recovery. The Speaker was not in San Francisco at the time.
“The Speaker and her family are grateful to the first responders and medical professionals involved, and request privacy at this time.”
John Dennis, who is challenging Pelosi in November’s midterms, called the attack an “appalling act that deserves condemnation and contempt.”
In a statement, White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said President Biden “is praying for Paul Pelosi and for Speaker Pelosi’s whole family.”
“This morning he called Speaker Pelosi to express his support after this horrible attack. He is also very glad that a full recovery is expected. The President continues to condemn all violence, and asks that the family’s desire for privacy be respected,” the statement read.
San Fransisco mayor London Breed called the attack “horrific and scary.”
“This was a horrific and scary incident. I have reached out to Speaker Pelosi to offer my support to her and her family. I want to thank the San Francisco Police Department and the San Francisco Fire Department for their quick response to this incident,” Breed said in a statement. “The Police have the suspect in custody, and as we have more information to share, we will do so.”
House GOP Leader Kevin McCarthy also reach out to Pelosi in wake of the terrifying attack.
“Leader McCarthy reached out to the speaker to check in on Paul and said he’s praying for a full recovery and is thankful they caught the assailant,” said Mark Bednar, a spokesperson for McCarthy.

Please note that when a demokraut is attacked, the republicans condemn the attack and offer any assistance they can. When a campaigner for republicans was attacked there was only the sound of crickets from the democrats and the MSM. Truly sad.

Mrs Jackson, the way you wrote or reported this story, you made the emergency care of Paul sound as if the staff performed extra services to insure Paul got the best health care, but a normal patient recieves less special care.
That is probably true San Francisco is the hall way to hell and only the special receive 1st class care.

This is just the tip of what is to come. Demon C’d rats who support no bail, free drug use, limit police practices and enforcement and paying these people to live on the streets are just a brief moment away from having their world invaded by these mentally ill drug induced protected people. This is the direction progressive ideologies are pushing us into.
This attacker should go to jail for a very long time. And he should not be allowed out in any circumstances. I don’t agree with any liberal on most things, however, this jerk could have assassinated the speaker. Everyone should tone down the rhetoric because the crazies come after you. One wonders why a high profile person like Pelosi would not have bullet-proof security glass and steel doors to prevent such a break-in. These people are multi-millionaires and can well afford these safety modifications. Also, why didn’t the cops shoot the perp before he smacked Pelosi with the hammer? And exactly who actually heard the perp ask “Where is Nancy?” Is this an attempt to lay the blame on conservatives? One wonders…Could this be a drug deal done bad? Too many questions that need to be answered.
