Remember the ? You know, lots of shooting and nobody ever gets hit? Well, it played out in 's Garfield neighborhood. Police moved to evict a guy for not paying the mortgage and on an inherited property. He said, “Eh, I'm not going anywhere.”  The next thing you know, shots broke out and cops turned the place into Swiss cheese.

CBS has the story:

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) — A gunman is dead after a six-hour standoff in Pittsburgh's Garfield neighborhood that prompted evacuations as he exchanged gunfire with police.

Police said the “active shooter” was barricaded inside a home on the 4800 block of Broad and North Mathilda streets on Wednesday. Pittsburgh Public Safety alerted the public to the shooting at around 11 a.m. Police said the suspect was pronounced dead shortly after 5 p.m. The man has been identified as William Hardison, sources told KDKA-TV.

A witness shed light on the events that precipitated the exchange of gunfire…

“In the beginning, all we heard was the cops,” witness Chris Wilkinson, who is visiting family in the area, said. “They were banging on the door where the shooting takes place. They were banging on it telling him they were there. And after a couple of minutes of them doing it, they started to kick down the door, but after a few tries they couldn't do it. Then, they got a sledgehammer and took down the door, and after that shots started to be fired. I've been really nervous and it's really sad what's happening. You think you can be safe here but you can't with what's happening.”

So they tried to bash down his door.

That's when the “stuff” hit the fan.

While no cops got shot, police did manage to successfully ventilate a neighbor's home as well.  Repeatedly.  While it was occupied by a homeowner who probably lost bowel and bladder control as rounds zinged through her house.

woman who was barricaded in her basement before she was evacuated said her home was hit by gunfire.

“Trying to get to the basement was almost unbearable,” she said. “Shots were ringing out everywhere. Finally made it to the basement, was able to get to a secure spot. Shots were just everywhere.”

“Shots came through the window for the living room, I have holes in the bathroom, glass is shattered everywhere,” she added.

Mr. Hardison held them at bay for hours, and in the process shot down not one, not two, but three police drones.  Nice shootin', Tex.

Why do we mention “Black Supremacist”?  From 11News:

He got got by the end of the say.  The and other agencies brought out the snipers and they took him down.

  1. All people must know they may be killed by an armed citizen. Behavior must be social and non aggressive. In the back of your mind you must know death is the option for you from your victim.

  2. This poor guy was probably suffering from PSTD from when his great-great grandfather was kidnapped from Africa, brought to America, and forced to pick cotton.

  3. This looks like a totally unnecessary shootout. They could just stake out the place and wait for him to buy some groceries. Be careful, they might start using the term “black supremacist” as dog whistle for pro-2nd amendment black man. Take nothing at face value, especially labels.
