Beyonce made an appearance at a Kamala Harris rally in her hometown of Houston, Texas, and to the disappointment of her many fans — expecting the world famous singer to perform because of the way the event had been covered — she briefly appeared to give an introduction to Harris.
It isn’t clear whether the outlets had been informed by the campaign that she would perform and plans changed or the outlet made the claims baselessly.
Breitbart News reports:
Instead, Beyoncé only spoke to supporters of Vice President Kamala Harris, disappointing fans who expected the pop star “to perform at Kamala Harris Rally in Houston,” as the Huffington Post reported, along with many other outlets, such as NBC News, MSNBC, Vanity Fair, and USA Today.
Many believe that media outlets friendly to the Harris campaign insinuated that the pop star would perform to help draw a crowd.
One Harris supporter filmed the line outside of the rally, insisting it was a sign of momentum and enthusiasm for the candidate. Realistically, though, crowd size probably had more to do with the promise of a free live performance from top charting musical icon than genuine support for Kamala Harris or her policies. Many attendees were disappointed, feeling bait and switched.
This focus on celebrity culture raises questions about the true depth of her campaign’s appeal, especially as she faces mounting challenges from disenchanted voters.
Harris has indeed secured endorsements from various celebrities, but these accolades have not translated into solid electoral support. As she collects endorsements from singers and actors, she continues hemorrhaging serious endorsements from labor unions and respected publications like the Los Angeles Times and Washington Post. Their withdrawal of support indicates a significant problem for Harris — especially from organizations that endorsed her ticket in 2020.
Following Taylor Swift’s endorsement of the Harris-Walz ticket in which she took aim at Republican vice presidential candidate J.D. Vance, he warned voters that celebrities don’t face the same issues they do, and while they can support an artist and respect their work, they should keep that in mind. As the Biden-Harris administration continues on its trajectory, many voters are feeling the strain of rising living costs and the impact of open border policies. While celebrities may remain insulated from the consequences of inflation and resource strain, everyday Americans are facing tough decisions at the grocery store and in their budgets. The disconnect between celebrity endorsements and the struggles of the average voter cannot be overstated.
Harris was also criticized for holding an event in a state she has little chance of winning so close to the election, though some reported this was due to Beyonce’s demands.
Breitbart New continues:
The Harris campaign held the event in Houston, Texas, the birthplace of Beyoncé, but a state that Harris has little chance of winning. In the final month of the campaign, Harris has focused on holding events with rich and famous supporters in solid blue states. She has not done as much campaigning on the ground in swing states.
Trump, in contrast, has conducted multiple events a day throughout crucial swing states. Earlier in the week, Trump campaigned in North Carolina, after serving McDonald’s customers in Pennsylvania and holding a rally on Sunday. He attended a town hall and held a rally on Wednesday in Georgia. He then rallied supporters on Thursday in Arizona. On Friday, Trump attended an immigration event in Austin, Texas, sat for an interview on top podcast “The Joe Rogan Experience,” and held a rally in Traverse, Michigan.
