Speculation originated after a Washington Examiner report revealed that Harris’ campaign paid $1 million to Winfrey’s production company, Harpo Productions, on Oct. 15. Harpo Productions eventually shared a statement with Variety proclaiming that Winfrey did not personally receive any of the money.
According to campaign filings, Harpo Productions received two separate payments of $500,000 each. These payments reportedly covered production costs for a “Unite for America” virtual town hall Winfrey hosted on Sept. 19, designed to rally support for Harris and attended by various celebrities.
A spokesperson from Harpo Productions told Variety, “The campaign paid for the production costs of ‘Unite for America,’ a livestreaming event that took place Sept. 19 outside Detroit, Mich. Oprah Winfrey was at no point during the campaign paid a personal fee, nor did she receive a fee from Harpo.” The production company did not disclose the full cost of its services for the event.
In addition to the town hall, Winfrey joined Harris at a campaign rally shortly before Election Day, urging voters to choose “healing over hate.”
Harris’ campaign saw a rapid increase in donations after President Joe Biden withdrew from the race and endorsed her. Within a week, the campaign raised $200 million, and by late July, the war chest had swelled to $377 million, surpassing President-elect Donald Trump’s $327 million at that point. By the end of September, Harris’ campaign had set a record, raising over $1 billion between July and September, far outpacing Trump’s totals for the same period.
Despite these record-breaking contributions, Harris’ campaign ultimately fell short, with Trump winning both the Electoral College and the popular vote in a decisive victory.
Key Points:
Oprah Winfrey denies any personal payment from Harris’ campaign.
Harpo Productions says it received two payments totaling $1 million to cover production costs.
Winfrey’s star-studded “Unite for America” town hall was held to support Harris’s candidacy.
Harris’ campaign fundraising set records but was ultimately unsuccessful against Trump’s.

$ million expenses for a “virtual” event? Unbelievable! They run the campaign like they run the nation. No wonder the deficit is where it is.
She’s got no problem STEALING taxpayer money
Certainly, the “production costs” somehow happened to total out “precisely” @ $1 million.
Why didn’t you report who owns Harpo Productions in your article?
Harpo harpooned.
The billion dollars that Harris raised and blew through in roughly 100 days is a massive understatement of the actual value of what was spent to try to get her elected President. The mainstream media was involved in the largest election influencing scheme in the history of American politics. Their nonstop, open support of Harris was almost universal and would have been worth many hundreds of millions of dollars in advertising costs. Fortunately for the country, the total cost of the Harris disaster was a total waste other than to prove what a truly miserable candidate she was. The most expensive campaign in American political history created one of the most lopsided defeats ever for the far left of the Democrat party. America dodged a bullet.
The left/liberals aways find a way to cover their dirty deeds.
I think this is one time that I will believe the newspaper over the individual.
