Almost Half Of Americans Now See China As An ‘Enemy’

-

ANALYSIS – While the Pentagon uses the idiotically vapid and meaningless term ‘pacing challenge' to refer to Communist , and calls it a ‘competitor,' Americans are increasingly seeing Beijing for what it truly is – an ‘enemy.'

This as Biden desperately seeks to kowtow to China's communist leaders, sending four cabinet-level U.S. emissaries to Beijing begging for the reopening of military communications channels, and now Biden meeting with Chinese despot at the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit in San Francisco this week.

Xi has not visited the since 2017 when he had “the most beautiful piece of chocolate cake” with at Mar-a-Lago.

However, now things are different for Xi. A February 2023 Economist/YouGov poll showed that 43% of Americans see China as an outright enemy. That is a bigger percentage than at any previous time they were asked by the Economist/YouGov poll during the Biden and Trump administrations.

And that percentage that views Beijing that way seems to be rising sharply.

The 180-degree shift in negative opinion on China to ‘enemy' status began in 2018 under Trump where only 14% of Americans saw China harshly. That shift coincides with Trump accusing China of stealing U.S. technology and intellectual property and his imposing $50 billion in tariffs on China.

By the end of Trump's term that number jumped to nearly 40%.

In August of 2022, then-House Speaker visited provoking massive and aggressive Chinese live-fire drills around the self-governing democratic nation, highlighting how dangerous China had become.

China cut off military-to-military communications with the United States right after that visit by Pelosi, throwing Team Biden into a panic, as intended by Beijing.

After the infamous Chinese spy balloon incident in February of 2022, when a high-altitude Chinese surveillance airship traversed the entire United States for 11 days before being shot down, the number of Americans considering China an enemy rightfully jumped to 43%.

An added 31% consider China ‘unfriendly.'

Only 4% of clueless Americans consider China an ‘ally,' and 10% see Beijing as ‘friendly.' This is a total reversal in sentiment toward China from six years ago.

Now Biden is frantically trying to establish personal diplomacy to supposedly stabilize U.S.-China relations. The problem is that China's idea of stabilized relations involves the U.S. submitting to Beijing.

And Xi has proven to be a lying tyrant, so personal diplomacy is essentially useless.

That should have been clear from the beginning.

As  reported:

A few years into Xi's presidency [under Barack Obama's presidency], American officials began to realize that they could not always count on the Chinese leader's promises made during personal diplomacy.

A major sore point was a 2015 promise by Xi during a US state visit that he would not “pursue militarization” of the South China Sea, a vow that stood in stark contrast to what then happened.

“Those four years of the Obama administration really had tremendous damage on American confidence about what China's behavior looks like under Xi,” [the director of the China program at the Stimson Center, Yun] Sun said.

Unfortunately, Biden doesn't learn from history, so all he does is repeat the same foolish and dangerous practices of his Democrat predecessors. The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over, but hoping for different results.
