In a move to secure continued support for Ukraine, President Joe Biden is expediting a $6 billion security aid package, aiming to send critical munitions and equipment before President-elect Donald Trump assumes office.
Sources familiar with the administration’s plans have shared that Biden is working swiftly, amid concerns that the incoming administration may pause or even halt further aid to Ukraine, potentially impacting the timeline and logistics of these supplies reaching their destination. Biden’s goal is to lock in the aid during his final months in office to ensure Ukraine receives the resources to defend against Russian forces.
Since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, the United States has emerged as a primary supporter of Ukrainian defense efforts. However, President-elect Trump has openly criticized the scale of U.S. financial assistance, contrasting it with Europe’s contributions, which collectively equal only what the U.S. has provided independently. Trump, who has repeatedly promised to negotiate an end to the conflict, argued that American support should be more measured.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky was among the first international leaders to reach out following Trump’s decisive win over Vice President Kamala Harris. In a congratulatory statement, Zelensky expressed confidence in Trump’s leadership, voicing hope that Trump’s “peace through strength” approach would contribute to a resolution in Ukraine. “We look forward to a strong United States under President Trump’s decisive leadership,” Zelensky said, adding that he is eager to work together toward peace.
Zelensky later shared details of his call with Trump on social media, emphasizing their shared commitment to a “close dialogue and strong cooperation.” In a post on X, formerly Twitter, Zelensky reiterated the significance of unwavering U.S. leadership, particularly in upholding global stability and pursuing peace.
Following Trump’s victory, Biden addressed the nation from the Rose Garden, reaffirming his commitment to a smooth transition. Notably absent from the address was Vice President Harris. Biden reportedly congratulated Trump in a phone call on Wednesday, signaling his intent to collaborate on the handover of power. Trump’s team confirmed the call and hinted at an upcoming meeting between the two leaders.
This accelerated push to deliver aid underscores the Biden administration’s determination to solidify U.S. support for Ukraine despite the uncertain future of U.S. involvement under a new administration.

Of course Biden will send billions more to Zelinsky! He has to get his kickbacks before he leaves office! Those are OUR tax dollars he is sending! Congress should stop this!

Of course Zelensky praised President Trump. He wants to ensure his cash cow continues to provide milk. I have a feeling he will be in for a rude awakening once Trump is back in office. Our tax dollars won’t be continuing to fill Zelensky’s coffers. This country could definitely use 6 billion dollars to help our own homeless and veterans. Biden and the democrats think our tax dollars are theirs to use as they will without any input from the peons who have the money taken from them every year.
No more billions for Ukraine’s billionaire oligarchs! Let them fund their war instead of them being enriched with American’s taxpayer money.
