House’s ‘irregular warfare’ provision risks unintended war. It’s not clear how many of the lawmakers who passed the House defense policy bill were aware of a dangerous provision in it.
DANGEROUSLY LATE – White House aims to release overdue security strategies within weeks. Amid pressure from U.S. lawmakers, the White House is weighing a September rollout for its long-delayed National Security Strategy, now being rewritten to emphasize Russia alongside China following the country’s invasion of Ukraine.

This Guard exercise trains for hypersonic missile attacks on major US cities. In a simulated training exercise, hypersonic missiles strike New York City, Chicago and Philadelphia near simultaneously, spreading unknown contaminants across these major metropolitan areas.

Carrier USS Ronald Reagan, Two F-35B big decks operating near Taiwan as Pelosi arrives in Singapore; China renews threats. Three U.S. capital ships and their escorts are operating in the Western Pacific near Taiwan, USNI News has learned.
Indonesia, US begin ‘Super Garuda Shield’ military exercise. Thousands of Indonesian and American troops began a two-week joint military exercise on Monday that Washington said aims to advance “regional cooperation in support of a free and open” Asia-Pacific region.
Chinese warplanes buzz line dividing Taiwan Strait before expected Pelosi visit – source. U.S. House of Representatives Speaker Nancy Pelosi was expected to arrive in Taipei later on Tuesday, people briefed on the matter said, as several Chinese warplanes flew close to the median line dividing the Taiwan Strait, a source told Reuters.
Chinese ships entered Japanese waters near Taiwan ahead of Pelosi’s Asia tour. A flotilla of Chinese coast guard vessels sailed into Japanese territorial waters in the East China Sea on Friday, just days ahead of a visit to the region by U.S. House speaker Nancy Pelosi.

Russia’s invasion of Ukraine offers lessons on land, at sea and by air. Months into Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, experts say the conflict is providing new lessons across the land, air and sea domains, potentially shaping future strategies for the U.S. military.
Russia-Ukraine war: List of key events, day 160. The first ship to depart Odesa under a landmark grain deal is continuing its journey towards Istanbul, where it will be inspected before heading to Lebanon. Ukrainian presidential adviser Oleksiy Arestovych said about 22,000 Russian troops were preparing to advance on the cities of Kryvyi Rih and Mykolaiv, where a “sufficiently large” Ukrainian force lay in wait.
American-made rocket launchers not used in Ukraine prison strike, US assesses. The U.S. has assessed that Ukraine did not attack a prison in a Russian-occupied eastern region of Donetsk with American-made rocket launchers last week, directly contradicting Russian claims, according to two U.S. officials.
Russia redeploys troops as focus of conflict turns south. Russia is shifting forces from the front line in northern Donbas, according to the Ukrainian and British militaries, ahead of a planned Ukrainian offensive in the south.

US MILITARY AND SPACE

The insignia, a blue and gray take on the yin-yang, has been around since World War I, when the division activated with troops from as far north as Maryland and down to South Carolina.
Space Force looks to put space attaches in embassies. The Space Force is in the process of establishing a program that will bolster the new service’s diplomatic outreach with its very first attaches in select U.S. embassies across the world.
