China Shows High-Level Defense Support To Russia And Belarus

TUESDAY  – Chinese defense minister to visit Russia, Belarus in show of support. Chinese Defense Minister Li Shangfu is visiting Russia and Belarus in a show of support for those nations as the West has sought to isolate over Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

Li's visit underscores the drive by China and Russia to align their foreign policies in a bid to undermine the Western-led liberal-democratic world order, despite their economic and reputational costs.

Xi Jinping, meanwhile, visited Moscow in March, sending a message to Western leaders that their efforts to isolate Moscow over the fighting in Ukraine had fallen short.

Russian military planes ‘detected and tracked' in Alaska air defense zone. Four Russian military planes flew into 's air defense zone Sunday and again Monday morning, according to North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD), which said the planes were deemed not a threat.

CHINA THREAT

Space on agenda for Biden's trilateral summit with S. Korea, Japan. The Defense Department wants to build up military space ties with its allies and partners in Asia in the face of China's rapid buildup of its own space capabilities, including the development of technologies that could hold US and allied space assets at risk in a regional conflict.

Extend the Pentagon's ban on China's consumer drones. The rest of the federal government—and state and local agencies and even private-sector infrastructure companies—should quit using this Chinese technology.

RUSSIA THREAT – UKRAINE WAR

Russia-Ukraine war: List of key events, day 538. Ukraine downed three waves of Russian missiles and drones targeting Odesa, the army said. Fifteen drones and eight Kalibr-type sea-based missiles were involved in the attack.
