ANALYSIS – “The big lie.” No. It’s not election denial. It’s a truly big lie. As early as 2016, Democrats have been peddling the absolute nonsense “big lie” that electing former President Donald Trump would be an existential threat to American democracy.
Since his challenging of the 2020 election, and the Capitol riot, those hysterical claims have only gotten shriller and more strident.
It’s also a great way to mobilize their rabid base and avoid having to defend their abysmal record on everything from illegal immigration, crime and inflation to foreign policy and Joe Biden’s senility.
It also serves to deflect from the overwhelming evidence (FBI targeting conservatives and Catholics, pressuring Big Tech to censor conservatives, and using outrageous lawfare against their political opponent, and much more), showing how Biden and the Democrats are the real threats to democracy.
And now, as a newly uncovered senile Joe Biden implodes after being protected by a compliant media, Democrats are seeing the writing on the wall – a second Trump presidency.
And they are privately admitting that it won’t be so bad, because he isn’t really a threat to democracy after all.
As a result, leftist heads are literally exploding online:
Fox News reported:
New York Times columnist Ezra Klein appeared on The Bulwark Podcast Tuesday and revealed what “top Democrats” have told him off the record as they panic over whether they should support or abandon President Biden on their ticket.
“People are weighing this set of things. Like, ‘It would be quite unpleasant for me personally to come out against the president as an elected official in the Democratic Party,’ and weighing what will happen if Donald Trump wins, and saying, in a revealed preference way, ‘I can live with Donald Trump winning,’” Klein said. “And I’ve heard people say that to me off the record, to be fair-“
“Really?” podcast host Tim Miller reacted.
“I’ve had top Democrats say to me, basically, say something like, ‘I don’t know why all these Democrats who think Donald Trump is an existential threat to democracy are acting the way they are. But the reason I’m acting the way I am is because I don’t think that,'” Klein continued.
The podcast can be heard here. But Miller also shared a screenshot of the “GALLING exchange” on X:
The exchange posted above got some lefties very riled up. Judy Adair posted: “infuriating! i’m speechless. so what are the democrats saying? if it’s not important have you been gaslighting us?”
“Absolutely f**king enraging,” former Obama speechwriter and Pod Save America co-host Jon Favreau reacted.
Delusional lefty loony tune, Nick Lowe posted: “Well, when their families are rounded up and killed, I’m sure they will be fine with their decision. Of course, Trump could be lying.
But many others commenting on Miller’s post were blatantly pro-Trump. Or at least not stupidly gullible and suffering from Trump Derangement Syndrome.
Joe Colangelo noted: “You can’t use the word ‘existential threat’ when he’s already been president and none of the really bad prognostications came to pass, right?”
Thomas the tumorigenic wrote: “This has been blindingly obvious for two years. Trump is an existential threat is something they say to rile up the base. But they don’t actually believe it. Like Rachel Maddow used to say, watch what they do, not what they say.”
Meanwhile Rep. Jared Golden, D-Maine, said the private part out loud in an op-ed published in the Bangor Daily News with the headline “Donald Trump is going to win the election and democracy will be just fine.”
