GOP Senator Stands Firm Against Woke Secretary Of Defense

THURSDAY  – While some of my military colleagues are whining that Alabama Republican senator, Tommy Tuberville, is unfairly hurting their general and flag officer friends waiting for their promotions and orders and hurting the military, I say they are looking at the wrong villain.

The real problem is , and his woke Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin, politicizing the military and illegally providing taxpayer-funded travel to service members and Tuberville isn't backing down.

MESSAGE TO SECDEF – NO TAXPAYER-FUNDED ABORTION TRAVEL.

We don't have anything to negotiate: Pentagon and Tuberville remain at standoff over abortion policy. The standoff between Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin and Sen. Tommy Tuberville, the Alabama Republican who has held up hundreds of senior military promotions for months in protest of the Pentagon's abortion access policies, showed no signs of abating Wednesday.

CHINA THREAT

Most say US needs to increase preparations for military threats from China: survey. A majority of Americans surveyed in a poll released Wednesday said the U.S. needs to increase preparations for potential military threats from China, amid rising tensions between Washington and Beijing.

China appears to be building an airstrip on a disputed island. Satellite photos appear to show construction on the island in the South China Sea. 

Former US officials urge Congress to enhance Biden's China investment order. Twenty-one veteran officials sent a letter to congressional leaders, calling the order “a positive step in the overdue process of limiting adversaries' access to American capital.”

THREAT – UKRAINE WAR

Russia-Ukraine war: List of key events, day 540. Ukraine said Russia carried out a series of drone attacks on grain silos and warehouses at a Danube River port near the border with Romania.

Ukraine recaptures a small village as Russian forces retreat. The announcement came on the same day that a cargo ship stranded in the Odesa port became the first to venture into the Black Sea despite Moscow's threats.

Inside the Russian effort to build 6,000 attack drones with Iran's help. Leaked documents show that Moscow is progressing toward its goal of mass-producing UAVs it could use to pummel Ukrainian cities. (RELATED: Russia's New ‘Joker' Drones Can ‘Sleep' Until They Attack)

Almost 10,000 civilians killed in Ukraine since start of war, UN says. The Office of the U.N. High Commissioner for Human Rights said Tuesday that nearly 10,000 civilians have been reported dead since the beginning of the war in Ukraine.

NORTH KOREA THREAT

North Korea's Kim, in letter to Putin, vows solidarity with Russia. The. U.S. has accused North Korea of supplying weapons to Russia to help in its war against Ukraine. They deny this, but there's no doubting their bond.

North Korea prepares for military actions in protest of US three-nation summit. North Korea may launch an intercontinental ballistic missile or take other military action to protest a summit of the U.S., South Korea and Japan.

IRAN THREAT

How Marines could prevent Iranian harassment of commercial ships. Retired military leaders say Marines could deter Iranian forces from harassing or seizing the vessels — and quickly loop in the Navy if issues arise. (RELATED: US Marines Forced To Let Sikh Man Graduate Boot Camp With Turban, Beard)

SPACE THREAT

DARPA to explore technology needed for moon-based economy. The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency is kicking off a seven-month study of the infrastructure and baseline technology needed to develop a moon-based within the next decade. 

HOMELAND SECURITY

Man posing as Delta Force soldier charged in protection scheme, feds say. A man is facing wire fraud charges stemming from his claims to be a member of the Army's elite Delta Force and offers of protection from Mexican drug cartels.

INTERNATIONAL SECURITY

Summit to unite US, South Korea, Japan. A new trilateral alliance linking the U.S., South Korea and Japan will enhance cooperation among the nations in key areas, including ballistic-missile defenses, to counter rising threats from North Korea and China.

Czechs ratify US treaty making it easier to deploy US troops there. The Czech Republic on Wednesday completed the ratification of a defense treaty with the U.S. that deepens military cooperation and makes it easier to deploy U.S. troops in Czech territory.

As Australia weighs future fleet, international shipbuilders make their pitches. Four companies have so far announced options for what could be a larger fleet of smaller vessels.

US MILITARY

This former Marine Cobra pilot saw combat in Afghanistan. Now, she's commanding her first space mission. Marine Lt. Col. Jasmin “Jaws” Moghbeli is about to go where very few helicopter pilots have gone before.

Army, Clemson University team up on unmanned ground vehicle. Deep Orange 14 is designed for urban reconnaissance and natural disaster relief missions, the prototype vehicle can sense and navigate on unknown and challenging terrains, and can plan missions, gather information, and update maps.
