A Hezbollah drone that struck the town of Caesarea in northern Israel on Saturday was reportedly targeting the residence of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, according to the Office of the Prime Minister. Neither Netanyahu nor his wife, Sarah, were at home during the incident.
Photos circulating on X appear to show explosive damage to Netanyahu’s home in Caesarea, but this has not been confirmed.
The BBC reports that Netanyahu’s office has not confirmed whether his private residence was hit or the extent of any damage:
At 08:19 local time (06:19 BST), the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said: “In the last hour, three unmanned aerial vehicles crossed into the country from Lebanon.
“Two of the aircraft were intercepted. Another aircraft hit a building in Caesarea, no injuries.”
Netanyahu makes use of two private homes, in Caesarea and Jerusalem, and has also spent time at Beit Aghion, the prime minister’s official residence in Jerusalem, which is currently being renovated.
The IDF said some 55 rockets had been launched into Israel from Lebanon so far on Saturday.
The strikes come as Israel continues its yearlong campaign against the leadership of Hamas and Hezbollah, resulting in the deaths of Yahya Sinwar, Hassan Nasrallah, Ismail Haniyeh and others.
Drone Alerts and Increased Tensions
The drone intrusion triggered alerts across large parts of northwestern Israel, following Israel’s announcement of the death of Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar. Two other drones launched from Lebanon were intercepted over Acre, while the one that reached Caesarea caused damage to a building but resulted in no injuries.

Israel Requests U.S. Defense Support
In response to the escalating situation, Netanyahu’s coalition government has requested the deployment of a second Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) battery from the United States.
The reported request stems from fears of a significant Iranian retaliation following Israel’s anticipated airstrikes on Iran ahead of the upcoming U.S. elections.
Since Monday, close to 20 C-17 Military Transports with the U.S. Air Force have landed at Airbases in Southern Israel, with most coming from Fort Cavazos in Texas, Anniston Army Depot and Redstone Arsenal in Alabama, as well as some from Dover Air Force Base in Delaware.
