Iran And Its Terror Proxies Expected to Attack Israel Soon

TUESDAY PDB – White House says Iranian attack could come this week. This, as fears grow that a large assault by Iran and its proxies is imminent. 

Iran has threatened to respond to the suspected Israeli assassination of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran, using regional militias that the Islamic Republic has armed.

The Institute for the Study of War defines the “Axis of Resistance” as an unconventional alliance Iran has cultivated in the Middle East since the Islamic Republic came to power in 1979.

The strategic objectives of these proxies — Hamas, Hezbollah, Houthis and Popular Mobilization Forces — include eroding and eventually expelling American influence from the Middle East and destroying the Israeli state.

ISRAEL’S WAR AGAINST TERROR

Hamas says it won’t take part in cease-fire talks planned for this week. It is insisting instead that the U.S. and allies submit an action plan to implement its cease-fire proposal agreed to last month. 

Hamas document reveals devious paraglider terrorism attack plan. The terror group’s use of paragliders as part of its mass murder of nearly 1,200 people in southern Israel on Oct. 7 was laid out in a methodical plan disclosed now for the first time. 

IRAN THREAT

US troops suffer minor injuries from drone attack in Syria. This, from a one-way drone attack.

A ship in the Red Sea is targeted in a third attack by suspected Iran-backed Houthis.The triple assault included the use of a bomb-carrying drone boat.

CHINA THREAT

Philippines to intensify aerial surveillance following Chinese interception over Scarborough Shoal. This, following an incident last week that saw Chinese fighter jets harass a Philippine aircraft over Scarborough Shoal. 

Philippine military says Chinese air force jets endangered its patrol plane with flares, risky moves. The two aircraft executed a dangerous and provocative maneuver and dropped flares in the path of a Philippine air force plane on routine patrol in the South China Sea.

Chinese aircraft carrier Shandong deploys to Philippine Sea. The People’s Liberation Army Navy (PLAN) Shandong Carrier Strike Group deployed there for a second time this year.

RUSSIA THREAT – UKRAINE WAR

Top Ukrainian commander says his forces now control almost 390 square miles of Russia’s Kursk region. He is the first Ukrainian military official to publicly comment on the gains of the lightning incursion that has embarrassed the Kremlin.

Ukrainian soldiers describe rapid offensive across border as Russians fled. Ukrainian reinforcements are arriving—including from other fronts, where Kyiv’s forces were already spread thin.

Surprise Ukraine offensive pokes Russia’s soft underbelly. As the war in Ukraine settled into a stalemate, two assumptions became prevalent: First, that it is nearly impossible to achieve surprise on a battlefield blanketed by drones. Second, that it is nearly impossible to mount fast-moving offensive operations, given the extensive defenses erected by both sides. Ukraine has now challenged both assumptions.

Ukraine says Russian army started fire at occupied nuclear plant. The Russian-occupied Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant in southern Ukraine reported normal radiation levels following a fire and explosions. 

NORTH KOREA THREAT

South Korea and US will start summer military drills next week to counter North Korean threats. The annual joint military exercises will focus on improving their combined capabilities to deter and defend against growing North Korean nuclear threats.

SPACE THREAT

Friends in high places: Space Force entrusts military payload to Norwegian firm in comsat launch. The satellites carry a handful of different payloads, including the two US Space Force Enhanced Polar System-Recapitalization jam-resistant communication payloads.

Space Force guardian’s historic first launch to ISS delayed due to issues with stranded astronauts. The planned launch into space this month may be left in limbo after a NASA and SpaceX mission has been significantly delayed. 

SpaceX launches 2 US military payloads for Arctic connectivity. The Arctic Satellite Broadband Mission constellation included two Space Force Enhanced Polar System – Recapitalization payloads.

INTERNATIONAL SECURITY

Poland adding to air defense arsenal as US approves $850 million missile deal. It will purchase several hundred AIM-120C medium-range air-to-air guided missiles to bolster the country’s air defense. 

Betrayal and capture of Sinaloa cartel leaders spark fears of turf war. Mexico deploys troops to prevent the risk of a bloodbath between factions led by sons of ‘El Chapo’ and ‘El Mayo.’ 

The UN says war-wracked Sudan is at a ‘catastrophic breaking point.’ Its military hasn’t committed to peace talks this week. This, amid fierce fighting and devastating flooding. 

US MILITARY

The US Air Force’s B-21 Raider is already a smash hit. America’s next-generation stealth bomber is set to replace much of the Air Force’s aging bomber fleet. Designed for long-range penetration, the Raider draws heavily from the B-2 Spirit’s design but aims to avoid the pitfalls of its predecessor by using mature technologies.

The US Air Force should deploy the apex predator of the skies. Stealth, speed, range, affordability. Pick any three.

Army’s high-energy laser competition to kick off early next year. It plans to choose a few teams to compete to develop its Enduring High Energy Laser, or HEL, system for short-range air defense.
