North Korea is cracking down on breast implants. According to Daily NK, the regime’s Ministry of Social Security just launched an “emergency” sweep after a wave of underground surgeries in Pyongyang.
Authorities have sent “strike teams” into city districts to hunt down what they call “un-socialist” implants. Women suspected of having work done are being stopped in the street, physically examined, and in some cases taken to hospitals or security offices.
Cops are even posing as clients to catch illegal surgeons. Neighborhood groups are being told to report women with “enhanced” bodies. The punishment? Criminal charges, outright arrest — or forced labor.
The New York Post continues:
The recent demand for boob jobs, eyelid surgeries, and eyebrow tattoos is a result of women in their 20s and 30s soaking in “bourgeois ideology,” the North Korean government contends.
In mid-September, one private doctor was put on public trial alongside two 20-something augmentees who all stood with their heads bowed for hours as they were excoriated by a prosecutor, Metro reported.
“Women living in a socialist system have been corrupted by bourgeois customs and have committed rotten capitalist acts,” an unidentified prosecutor said, Metro reported.
Prosecutors’ revealed at trial that those two augmented women were in fact subject to physical examination by government officials.
The hermit kingdom passed a Plastic Surgery Treatment Law in 2016 that bans procedures the regime deems inconsistent with a “socialist lifestyle.”
The buxom phenomenon isn’t the regime’s first run-in with what it calls “bourgeois culture.” North Korean troops sent to fight for Russian strongman Vladimir Putin in the Kursk “meat grinder” got hooked on internet porn — thanks to their first taste of free Wi-Fi.
The “fun” ended fast. South Korea’s spy agency says nearly half of the 10,000 North Koreans sent to fight for Putin were killed or wounded, about 4,700 irrevocable loses.
