Even as it cleans up the wreckage from its latest public relations fiasco and crippling legal judgment, the notoriously leftist Oberlin College finds itself once again defending a dangerous agenda.
Federal lawmakers want to know why one of Oberlin’s newest professors, and Iran’s former United Nations ambassador, is accused of having a role in the massacre of up to 5,000 pro-democracy dissidents and whether Iran’s terrorist dictatorship is influencing the college.
“Two Republican lawmakers from the [U.S. House] Committee of Education and Labor called for an inquiry Wednesday into Oberlin College’s religion studies professor Mohammad Jafar Mahallati due to his reported ties with the world’s worst state-sponsor of terrorism, the Islamic Republic of Iran and his alleged role in the cover-up of a massacre of up to 5,000 Iranian political prisoners,” Fox News reports.
“Mr. Mahallati’s connections with one of America’s chief adversaries are not a secret. Indeed, Mr. Mahallati served as Iran’s Ambassador to the United Nations from 1987 to 1989,” write Rep. Jim Banks, R-Ind., and Rep Virginia Foxx, R-N.C., in a letter to Oberlin College President Carmen Twillie Ambar and Oberlin’s Board of Trustees.
“During his tenure, the Iranian government carried out a systematic extermination of political prisoners and other dissidents. While estimates differ on the number of those killed, Human Rights Watch estimated that the deaths range between about 2,800 and 4,500. Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch, and Canada’s parliament labeled these mass killings as crimes against humanity,” they add.
“Mr. Mahallati’s current association with and his open loyalty to the Iranian regime causes serious national security concerns. It also puts into question Oberlin’s reporting of foreign funding: any omissions from this report would violate section 117 of the Higher Education Act,” the letter states.
The letter alleges there are also concerns that “the Iranian regime played a role in his [Mahallati’s] employment at Oberlin and whether federal taxpayer dollars should be provided to a college that goes to such great lengths to protect and defend an Iranian regime affiliate.”
Oberlin was recently ordered by a court to pay $36 million in damages to a local bakery falsely accused of racism after stopping several students from shoplifting.
Not only did college officials knowingly spread the false claim to generate campus political activism, but they also directed and led mass protests against the bakery in an attempt to cause damage.

Maybe Oberlin hired this guy to consult with the US government on how to suppress opposition and kill thousands of US Citizens at a time. It would likely be a big contract that generates lots of overhead for Oberlin.
Oberlin is an ideal place to do this sort of research. It has been meter-pinning leftist for decades. There is little chance of there being a conservative on campus who might disclose or oppose this US-Iranian opposition elimination program. Intellectual diversity and academic freedom are distant memories here, as elsewhere.
The Republican criticism is likely to follow their traditional Pro-forma pattern of uttering some conservative platitudes recited from a party-prepared list followed by a return to the pub for another round. Oberlin and Mahallati will continue their joint work developing methods of mass repression of those who disagree with the Leftist narrative. A good time will be had by all, except that is, any Americans who dare to speak out.
Shut the buggers down! Islam when it gains a foothold will not stop until we as a nation are under Sharia law just like Jordan or Pakistan. Why? Islam is not only a religion. It is a military organization, a totalitarian social system and a theocracy where the top mullah can order anything he bloody well pleases.
