The Republican congressman who will be in charge of investigating government corruption is calling for the FBI “to be dismantled” over revelations the agency tried to stop Americans from sharing information that could have harmed Joe Biden’s 2020 presidential campaign.
“Representative James Comer (R., Ky.), the incoming chairman of the House Oversight Committee, said…the FBI ‘needs to be dismantled’ after the latest installment of the ‘Twitter files’ revealed the bureau was in constant contact with Twitter before Elon Musk took over,” National Review reports.
“This is serious. What else are in they involved in at the FBI? The entire FBI needs to be dismantled. We need to start all over. We need to enact strict reforms. There needs to be checks and balances at the FBI,” Comer told Fox News Channel host Sean Hannity.
Comer’s statement comes after Musk revealed internal company communications showing, under previous company ownership, the FBI regularly communicated with top Twitter executives throughout the 2020 presidential campaign with requests to suppress, censor or even outright ban accounts and posts sharing news reports on a laptop computer abandoned by Hunter Biden, the adult son of Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden.
That laptop contained emails, photographs and documents detailing Hunter Biden’s drug use and involvement with prostitutes and human trafficking, as well as foreign business deals that allegedly included under-the-table cuts of cash for Joe Biden.
Sensing the information could harm Joe Biden’s efforts to defeat President Donald Trump, officials within the FBI and other federal agencies falsely claimed the materials were forgeries that were “planted” by “Russian agents.”
As part of that effort, a team of 80 FBI agents was reportedly in regular contact with Twitter, making requests to censor private speech sharing news reports on the laptop.
“This is serious, and this is going to be a top priority for Republicans on the oversight committee,” said Comer.
“But what we found today is the FBI had its own ministry of propaganda — 80 FBI agents dedicated to nothing but censoring free speech on the internet,” said Comer. “Eighty! As someone who’s going to be incoming chairman of the House Oversight Committee that’s roughly $12 million in expenses to the taxpayers in salary and benefits.”
“Look at our First Amendment rights,” Comer added. “Anyone that cares about free speech should be outraged, whether you’re a Republican or Democrat. This has to stop.”

I have and will continue to respect the many honorable and law-abiding staffers that are part and parcel of the FBI, active and/or retired. They are doing and have done their best to serve our country but apparently are now being stained by allegations of wrongdoing by rogue agents and politically appointed officials select by the current administration to run that reputable agency. It’s seemingly coming to light that there are probable agency officials abusing their power and position possibly to the point of actually violating our Constitutionally protective rights and freedoms and even the everyday laws of the land.
Yes, an investigation should be on the agenda of the incoming administration and those responsible for staining the honorable and great service performed by these dedicated men and women of the FBI should be held accountable to the fullest extent of the law.
There isn’t any doubt in my mind that concerned members of the House and Senate, regardless of their political affiliation, will do the right thing and clean house when and wherever necessary so that any wrongs are addressed and cured not only for their own security but for the overall good of the country.
There’s no way to pick and choose good vs evil, they all need to go, and then we can start to rebuild the FBI.
Well they should NOT be silent and should come forward and blow the whistle on those corrupt.

Republicans in congress just fell all over themselves in passing the latest Omnibus, which included billions going to the FBI and DOJ. Somehow that doesn’t sound like they’ll be leaving anytime soon. The FBI should be disbanded for just the crime of federal election interference, and when you add the rest of their crimes this last decade, all the alphabet agencies should be banned and jailed!

The FBI have become one-sided politically for many years; they don’t serve the conservative side anymore. They are corrupt and have become a menace to free speech and our liberties.
I agree with Rep. Comer. The FBI’s betrayal of public trust has gone so far that it can’t be undone. Can we trust it to run any House hearings fairly? Can we trust it to do any investigation fairly? Can we trust it if it “promises” to reform? The only caveat I would give Rep Comer is to have a plan to replace it after the current plan of necrotic ectoplasm is removed.
