Arizona Democratic Sen. Ruben Gallego is launching an effort to challenge a new Trump Administration immigration policy that could require many green card applicants to leave the United States and complete the process abroad.

According to a report from The Hill, Gallego is not only seeking to overturn the policy itself but is also pursuing a procedural strategy that could make it easier for Congress to reverse the change.

The dispute revolves around a recent U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) policy affecting how certain immigrants obtain lawful permanent residency.

FRIDAY PDB – NATO allies call China a ‘decisive enabler’ of Russia’s war in Ukraine. This, in their most serious rebuke yet against Beijing. NATO allies also expressed concerns over Beijing’s nuclear arsenal and its capabilities in space.

FINALLY, NATO ALLIES ARE SEEING THE  CHINA THREAT!

At NATO summit, a question of what the alliance wants from the Pacific. For the third straight year, a group of countries with ties to the alliance, called the Indo-Pacific Four, have sent officials to attend the summit in person. Members of NATO say this is a sign that the two regions increasingly see their security as shared.

Upcoming DOD Arctic Strategy will engage NATO allies. In March 2024, troops from 13 NATO Allies gathered in Europe for one of this year’s largest exercises, to test the Alliance’s new regional plans and demonstrate NATO’s deterrent power.

Exercise NORDIC RESPONSE, hosted by Norway, Sweden, and Finland saw training taking place across the European Arctic.

PAY YOUR SHARE – Canada is a NATO scofflaw. The Trudeau government free rides on everyone else’s defense dollars, even as threats in the Arctic grow.

WAR IN THE ARCTIC COULD COME SOON.

FOR YOUR EYES ONLY – Here’s a roundup of today’s other top defense stories from conservative national security expert PAUL CRESPO.

Not the President’s Daily Brief, but almost as good – PAUL’S DAILY BRIEFING – the PDB:

NATIONAL SECURITY

An argument against establishing a US Cyber Force. “Some academics, military leaders and politicians believe that establishing a separate U.S. Cyber Force will address challenges faced by the DOD cyberspace operations community. We disagree.”

One-third of US military could be robotic in 10-15 years. This, according to retired Army Gen. Mark Milley, a former chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.

HOMELAND SECURITY

Army says it couldn’t use NY’s red flag law to disarm Lewiston gunman. Maj. Matthew Dickison, who evaluated Robert Card initially, tells the commission investigating the mass shooting that New York’s law doesn’t appear to apply to non-residents.

POLITICS

JUST BAD ENOUGH PERFORMANCE TO STAY IN RACE – Key takeaways from Biden’s news conference: Insistence on staying in the race and flubbed names. He made at least two notable flubs, referring at an event beforehand to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy as “President Putin” and then calling Kamala Harris “Vice President Trump.” He also gave detailed responses and insisted he’s not leaving the race despite Democratic calls to step aside.

The cost of Biden’s complacency in Ukraine. The sense of urgency in Washington and Brussels to get Ukraine the weapons and munitions they need to survive and ultimately defeat Russia — to win — is woefully lacking.

Zelenskyy says to win the war, US needs to lift limits on striking military targets inside Russia, which Biden is holding back.

US POWER OVERSEAS

BIDEN BOONDOGGLE – After last-ditch effort, the Gaza humanitarian aid pier mission is finally coming to an end. This, after one final attempt to re-anchor the pier on Wednesday.

US Navy ballistic missile defense site in Poland that’s been in the works for more than a decade, is finally mission ready.

Navy sets up new uncrewed task force in Europe, Africa. For the past six months, the Navy has been studying the integration of uncrewed systems in a program for the region.

Marines experiment with next-generation logistics during ‘Valiant Shield.’ How to meet the logistics needs of Marines and sailors in an Indo-Pacific conflict is the major challenge that ‘I Marine Expeditionary Force’ began to tackle during last month’s exercise.

CHINA THREAT

CHICOMS GETTING CLOSE – US Coast Guard spots Chinese naval ships off Alaska island in the Bering Sea. A cutter on routine patrol came across several Chinese military ships in international waters but within the U.S. exclusive economic zone.

How many people are in the People’s Liberation Army? The PLA is often described as “the largest military in the world.” But details are murky and confusing. The deeper one dives into the numbers, the more complicated the picture gets, and the greater the differences between the Chinese and U.S. systems become.

Issa urges House colleagues to learn about South China Sea crises. Rep. Darrell Issa, R-Ca., urged his fellow members of Congress to educate themselves on the crises within the South China Sea region.

RUSSIA THREAT – UKRAINE WAR

Russia vows ‘military response’ to US missile deployments in Germany. The U.S. and Germany announced episodic deployments of longer-range American cruise missiles in Germany starting in 2026.

SERIOUS STUFF – US and Germany foiled Russian plot to assassinate CEO of major German arms manufacturer sending weapons to Ukraine.

Russian jamming is wreaking havoc on GPS satellite-based navigation systems around the Baltic Sea and Eastern Europe — but is it hybrid warfare? This, amid unprecedented amounts of electronic warfare in Russia’s war on Ukraine. Earlier this year, the interference forced the closure of a major civilian airport after flights had to be diverted enroute.

US, allies take down Kremlin-backed AI bot farm. The FBI dismantled two websites and nearly 1,000 accounts on the X social media platform that were used to run an AI-powered campaign that sought to spread disinformation within the U.S. and abroad.

South Korea’s ability to arm Ukraine elevates its role at NATO summit. While not a member, it holds vast stores of weapons sought by the bloc to help Ukraine fight off Russia, and perhaps tip the battle in Kyiv’s favor.

ISRAEL’S WAR AGAINST TERROR

Gaza talks explore alternative to Israeli troops on Gaza-Egypt border. Israel and Egypt are in talks about an electronic surveillance system along the border between Gaza and Egypt that could allow Israel to pull back its troops from the area if a ceasefire is agreed on.

Israel’s security cabinet extends compulsory military service for men to 36 months from the current 32 months.

NORTH KOREA THREAT

South Korea to deploy laser weapons to intercept North Korean drones which have become a major security concern in recent years.

INTERNATIONAL SECURITY

Switzerland squares neutrality with its European air-defense push. Switzerland is moving to formalize its membership in the European Sky Shield Initiative, a step in line with the country’s neutrality stance thanks to the project’s procurement focus and some special wording.

US MILITARY

Sixth-gen stealth jet selection likely later in 2024, Air Combat Command chief says. The Air Force will then choose which company will develop its next high-tech fighter.

WATCH – Rapid fire mortars: Watch Marines drop rounds faster than an enemy would like to see.

VERY COOL – AFSOC seeks industry feedback for ‘Swarm Carrier’ drone. Air Force Special Operations Command is looking for a drone system capable of launching from a C-130 and deploying drones of its own.

READY TO PUMP YOU UP! – Meal, Ready-to-Bulk? Pentagon urged to add creatine to MREs. The provision included in the House 2025 National Defense Authorization Act is calling for the addition of a popular muscle-building supplement to the military’s MRE rations.

Info warriors coming to Navy subs in the Pacific. The Navy has been experimenting with embedding information warfare officers and sailors on submarines, starting with two pilot efforts off the East Coast.

Suicides in Air Force, Navy and Marines in first quarter of 2024 top pandemic-era rates, DOD data shows. This, while the Army saw a significant dip.

Biden started the war rather the people who actually run the White House did. Those people are destroying America on purpose . The Ukraine war is Unwinnable.
