GREAT PRECEDENT – Japan is in talks to open a NATO office as Ukraine war makes world less stable. It would be the first of its kind in Asia, the country’s foreign minister said.
US, Spain agree to host two more warships in Rota. They plan on increasing the number of U.S. guided-missile destroyers based there.
WHY NOT? THEY SHOULD – French vision for an autonomous Europe proves elusive. After Russia unleashed the largest land war in Europe since World War II, exposing Europe’s weak defense capabilities, now may not be the time to expect the continent to stand alone militarily.
Switzerland holds military drills, its role in European defense in focus. In one its largest military exercises in more than three decades, the country showcased the military capabilities that define its “armed neutrality.”
DANGEROUS TURMOIL IN NUKE-ARMED COUNTRY – Former Pakistani Prime Minister arrested amid tensions with military.
