Congressman Calls for Biden to Extradite Bolsonaro

-

Former Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro's supporters stormed the capital city of Brasília Sunday, vandalizing congressional offices, the presidential palace and its over false claims of a rigged election.

In the wake of the violence, one congressman is calling for the to extradite the former president to his home country, as Mediate reports:

Rep.  (D-TX) called the Biden administration to extradite former Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro back to his country in the wake of violent protests that rocked the capital city of Brasilia on Sunday.

Bolsonaro — who's proudly embraced the nickname “Trump of the Tropics” and had the endorsement of the American ex-president — began promoting baseless claims of election fraud before the ballots were even counted in his narrow loss last October to Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva.

Bolsonaro is currently in Florida, staying at a house he rented near Disney, just south of Orlando.

On Sunday's episode of  Newsroom, Castro concurred with anchor Jim Acosta's assessment that the reports from looked like a “replay of January 6th.”

By most accounts, it was far worse.

Castro accused Bolsonaro of adopting the “Trump playbook,” telling Acosta that the U.S. “should not be a refuge for this authoritarian.” He added on Twitter that the ex-president should be deported to Brazil to face “accountability for his .”

Brazilian President called the violence “barbaric,” further vowing that “all the people who did this will be found and punished.”

Bolsonaro, who claimed the 2022 presidential election would be stolen from him before the ballots were counted, is considered instrumental in fueling the protesters' rage.

Thousands had been allowed to camp out in the capital city for months.

promptly responded when they stormed the country's democratic institutions.

And chaos ensued.

The federal capital's governor has since fired Brasília's security chief. Lula's allies accuse him — and the governor — of giving the mob a foothold in the capital city.

Lula decreed Sunday night that his deputy justice minister will oversee Brasília's security through the end of the month.

With congress' approval, the deputy justice minister now controls the military and civil police forces in the capital.

  1. The chaos with the election losses of both Trump and Bolsonaro (sp) could be avoided by using a failsafe form of balloting so we ALL could be assured the election was honest. The is too much gaming of election laws in both countries.
    Paper ballots
    Voter ID
    Chain of custody
    Documented citizenship
    Voila.

  2. He needs to butt out and bite me. This ‘congressman’ is simply afraid we’ll do the same thing. The Brazilian people are doing what we will be doing soon, if our elections are not cleaned up. Cheating makes people angry, and you don’t want to see us angry.

  3. That’s what Authoritarian A-Holes deserve! Kudos to the Brazilian Patriots defending against the Communist pigs…

  4. Castro go back to where ever the hell you came from you Communist pig. Butt-Out of other nations’ affairs you authoritarian pig….

  5. The first sentence of this article contains the phrase “vandalizing congressional offices, the presidential palace and its Supreme Court over false claims of a rigged election”. Who, exactly, decided that these are FALSE CLAIMS? That election was rigged, the same as our 2000 election and the AZ recent election.

  6. Why does Congress believe we should stick our nose in other countries business? They can’t seem to work together to fix issues here, but they somehow think they can solve issues in Brazil, Ukraine, and a variety of other non-USA issues. When other countries are found to be “helping” in our elections and other issues, Congressional members start pointing the finger at everyone they can drag down. Focus on the citizens who put their trust in you to help them by electing you a position or leave and allow someone who will actually do their job!
