Earlier today, Global Sumud Flotilla organizers reported that one of their Gaza-bound aid ships — dubbed the Family Boat, with Greta Thunberg on board — was struck by what they say was a drone while docked off Sidi Bou Said, Tunisia. The impact triggered a fire on both the main deck and storage area below deck. Miraculously, all six passengers and crew are reported safe.
GSF characterized the incident as an act of intimidation, reaffirming their mission to continue delivering humanitarian aid to Gaza.
Tunisian officials, however, deny any drone involvement. The Interior Ministry stated there is “no basis in truth” to that claim, and no drones were detected in the area. Instead, they suggest the fire likely started onboard, possibly from a cigarette igniting life jackets.

The New York Post continues:
National Guard spokesman Houcem Eddine Jebabli slao told Agence France-Presse that “no drones have been detected” and that preliminary findings indicate “a fire broke out in the life jackets on board.”
Thunberg was on one of the 20 boats that departed for the Gaza Strip from Barcelona on Aug. 31 in a flotilla Israeli officials have previously described as a publicity-seeking “selfie yacht” cruise.
The GSF posted dramatic footage it claimed to show something falling on the ship from above. None of the six passengers and crew aboard the ship were injured, GSF confirmed.
Israel did not immediately comment.
