Princess Anne Hospitalized After Horse-Related Incident

A beloved member of the British Royal Family is in hospital after a horse-related incident Sunday night. The accident occurred during an evening ride at the family’s Gatcombe Park estate.

Princess Anne, the sister of King Charles, is currently under observation after reportedly falling. Anne, known for her equestrian skills, won a silver medal in the team eventing category at the 1976 Montreal Olympics.

Anne’s husband, Vice Admiral Sir Tim Laurence, along with her children, Zara Tindall and Peter Phillips, were present at the estate when the accident occurred. Zara is an accomplished equestrian, having won a silver medal at the 2012 London Olympics.

Despite the frightening nature of horse falls, Anne is expected to make a full recovery. This comes from several reliable sources, including British journalist Piers Morgan.

As The Daily Mail reports:

Her brother King Charles was immediately informed but Anne’s engagements this week have been postponed on her doctors’ advice. She will no longer visit Canada from Sunday and cannot attend a Buckingham Palace banquet for the Japanese state visit tomorrow night.

‘Her Royal Highness sends her apologies to any who may be inconvenienced or disappointed as a result,’ a royal spokesman said.

Princess Anne’s hospital stay has again highlighted how stretched the Royal Family is with the King and the Princess of Wales both being treated for cancer.

The Princess Royal is the hardest working royal in terms of annual engagements at a time when the King has cut back on events and Prince William has also taken time off to care for his wife. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have walked away from royal duties completely.

A palace spokesman says Anne is “recovering well” and in a “comfortable condition.” He anticipates that she will be back home later this week.

Gatcombe Park was gifted to Anne by her mother, Queen Elizabeth II, in 1976.

It is not just a family residence but also a hub for equestrian events. The most notable being the Festival of British Eventing, an annual competition that attracts top riders from around the world.
