During his confirmation hearing on Wednesday, Secretary of State nominee Marco Rubio issued a stark warning about the growing threat China poses to the United States, emphasizing the risk that China could control virtually every aspect of Americans’ lives within the next decade if the U.S. does not change its course.
Rubio, who has been a vocal critic of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) for years, expressed deep concern over China’s increasing dominance in key global industries, particularly in critical minerals, technology, and medicine. He painted a bleak picture for the future, stating that the U.S. could become “entirely dependent” on China for essential goods and services if current policies continue.
“If we stay on the road we’re on right now, [in] less than 10 years, virtually everything that matters to us will depend on whether China allows us to have it or not,” Rubio warned. He listed various areas of dependence, saying, “Everything from the blood pressure medicine we take, to what movies we get to watch and everything in between, we will depend on China for it.”
Rubio’s remarks focused on China’s stranglehold over critical minerals, which are essential for a wide range of industries, from electronics to renewable energy. He noted that China has secured rights to vital mineral supplies around the world, making global industries increasingly reliant on the CCP.
“Those batteries are almost entirely dependent on the ability and the willingness of the Chinese Communist Party to produce and export it to you,” Rubio stated.
This growing dominance in critical industries, Rubio argued, means the U.S. could face a situation where it has no choice but to depend on China for vital products, from pharmaceuticals to national security technologies. The implications, he warned, could have devastating consequences for U.S. autonomy and security.
The nominee has long expressed concerns about Chinese influence in American technology, including the widely popular social media app TikTok. Rubio, who called for a TikTok ban as early as 2021, reiterated his concerns during the hearing. He argued that China’s increasing stake in the app, including its ownership by the Chinese company ByteDance, puts U.S. users’ personal data at risk and strengthens China’s surveillance capabilities.
Documents obtained by the Daily Caller News Foundation revealed that TikTok allegedly pressured former employees to pledge allegiance to China’s socialist system, further intensifying fears that the app could be used for espionage or to influence American public opinion. The ongoing concern over TikTok led to a federal ban on the app, which is expected to take effect for U.S. users on Sunday.
As Secretary of State, Rubio would be positioned to lead U.S. foreign policy in confronting China’s growing global influence. President-elect Donald Trump, in nominating Rubio for the position, praised him as a “very powerful Voice for Freedom” and a “fearless Warrior” who would never back down to authoritarian regimes like China.

Rubio has highlighted what the former USSR did in the past to control critical materials vital to our military, namely places in West Africa and Southeast Asia. China is also gaining control over the gates of trade routes; the Panama Canal, the South China Sea, and Hong Kong. China is also wanting to control United States agriculture, in the purchase of thousands of acres of farmland. Bill Gates is also doing the same. One reason they are doing this is to maintain the outrageous narrative of so-called “climate change,” which for the most part is driven by one factor that NASA has already confirmed… unusual activity by our Sun, and another controversial narrative, the measuring of ocean temperatures that are different outcomes from buoys, compared to human beings measuring temperatures from ships in those same areas. Human beings are going to sku the results to keep their jobs. Nature has a way to provide for the increase of temperature; by providing more cloud cover to cool the Earth. This is why we seem to have more storms than usual, or so is promulgated by the proponents of “climate change.” When considering the increase in temperature caused by the Sun, makes “human-caused” climate change a non-sequitur.
