Rep. Andy Biggs, R-Ariz., announced late Monday he’s mounting a challenge to Kevin McCarthy’s speakership bid. Biggs is the chair of the conservative House Freedom Caucus.
McCarthy, R-Calif., is the highest-ranking Republican in the U.S. House. Although widely expected to become the next speaker, the GOP’s lackluster performance in the midterms has left a contingent in the Freedom Caucus to question his leadership.

Republicans have all but locked up control of the House, as some races have yet to be called. When the dust settles, the GOP is expected to have a razor-thin majority after underperforming in last week’s midterm elections.
On Newsmax Monday night, host Lidia Curanaj asked the congressman about his intentions.
“Congressman, you’re being reported as the top challenger to Kevin McCarthy,” she said. “I mean, it sounds like you’re almost there. Maybe you want to announce?”
“We have a new paradigm here,” Biggs replied. “And I think the country wants a different direction from the House of Representatives and it’s a new world. And yes, I’m going to be nominated tomorrow to the position of speaker of the House. We’ll see if we can get the job done.”
Biggs acknowledged successfully challenging McCarthy would be difficult.
Biggs has represented northwestern Arizona in Congress since 2017 and accumulated one of the most conservative voting records. He recently attracted controversy by voting against awarding three members of the U.S. Capitol Police with the Congressional Gold Medal for their role in defending the Capitol Building on Jan. 6, 2021.
He declined to comment when asked to explain his vote.

O.K. I’d prefer Jim Jordan, but have no truck with Andy. He’d be a far cry from McC. Then jim will chair the Judiciary Committee. He’d make a bunch of dems lose a lot of sleep for the next two years, and beyond.
Kevin McCarthy should not be elected speaker, he is a RINO wimp put forward by the Trump hater Paul Ryan. He has already said he has no plans to go after President Biden. Anyone voting for him should be voted out of office.

The new Speaker should be someone with guts and vision who cares more about family and country than “politics as usual”. Rep. Marjorie Taylor Green would be perfect for the job.

It’s hard to help when the person in charge of elections is running against the Republican and surprise surprise it took them a few days, but they found those votes somewhere. Maybe under a table like with President Trump. Another stolen race. Darn shame.

Andy Biggs needs to change his name to Andy Division. The last thing Republicans need is division. They need to get it together and challenge election procedures or this country is headed for complete failure.
