California state Sen. Scott Wiener has introduced legislation that would restrict law enforcement officers — federal, state, and local — from covering their faces during operations in California.
The bill comes in response to growing friction between federal agents and protesters in Los Angeles, particularly surrounding Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) activity.
Wiener, a Democrat representing San Francisco and parts of San Mateo County, says the bill is aimed at addressing what he calls a rise in “secret police.” He cited incidents where agents wore masks, had no visible identification, and were dressed in military-style gear.
“We’re seeing the rise of secret police — masked, no identifying info, even wearing army fatigues — grabbing & disappearing people,” he claimed.
While progressives have long voiced concerns about masked federal agents operating without visible identification, law enforcement officials maintain that facial coverings are necessary for officer safety and operational security.
Moreover, the state has no legal authority to dictate how federal officers conduct their duties. Critics argue that such legislation would violate the U.S. Constitution’s Supremacy Clause (Article VI, Clause 2), which establishes that federal law takes precedence over conflicting state laws.
Federal agents operate under U.S. law and Department of Homeland Security protocols, which permit the concealment of identity under specific conditions. National security experts and former ICE officials argue that masking is a necessary safeguard in high-risk environments, particularly where threats of retaliation and doxxing are common.
Jerry Robinette, a former ICE agent, has testified about those risks, calling anonymity essential in certain enforcement operations to protect agents and their families.
While Wiener’s proposed legislation may score political points in progressive circles, it’s unlikely to hold legal weight — especially when it comes to federal enforcement actions.

This has got to be the most anti-American thing that California has done. State politics seem to have been taken over by people who are more loyal to their countries of origin than the United States. Californians outside the left-wing control of the cities are stuck in a situation not to their liking. The solution to all of this is to make it much easier for state areas to secede when the majority of people in an area vote to do so. Most counties outside of the Portland, Oregon area have voted to secede and join Idaho, being fed up with the left’s control of the Portland area. Similar situations in California, where there is a big movement for a number of areas to secede. This could be aided by a long-time proposal I have made to redraw state lines into Congressional districts, which, combined, would form Senate districts. lines would be drawn according to population, so that each area is largely equalized in population with each other area.
Well, then, there should be a level playing field. Masks should be outlawed altogether. No masks for the authorities; no masks for the public.
Didn’t Weiner get enough humiliation over his past desgressions? It doesn’t matter if they have masks on, or off, ifthey send in robots or dogs, they are not going in after citizens of the USA. They are going in to grab and return non citizenss who are not authorized to be in the USA, who are criminals, who have committed crimes, who are dealing drugs, have committed assaults, rape, and theft. The USA does not want those people to be in the USA and anyone who supports them staying here is supporting criminal activity. It appears that for the most part Democrats are lead around by the nose rings most have by theri leadership. Ever wonder why democratic leadership is supporting criminal activity, look at the realistate and money rise. Its all about the money they make. Both Newsome and Bass are incompetent fools and have shown it this year with the preparation for fire season and the ultimate burn off of billons of dollars in property. Property that was suppose to be protected by an operating fire water system. Now only was the water missing but reportedly the hydrants had been stolen and sold as scrap metal….probalby went to China. Now California Politicians are supporting criminals who are in the USA illegally, are encouraging riots, theft, arson, destruction of goverment property by the George Soros Open Society funds paid to professional rioters. Ya, you heard that right these professoinals have gone from Seattle, to Portland, Californa, with some chapters in Chicago, Detroit, Atlanta, Denver and other places. Depending on what level of riot work they do is how they get paid. Remember George Soros and sons hate the USA becasue we contributed to the fall his his NAZI buddies in WWII, and this is revenge.
