As the Palisades Fire tore through upscale neighborhoods in Los Angeles, residents, including several high-profile celebrities, voiced their frustrations over the response to the blaze, with many pointing fingers at city and state leadership for inadequate infrastructure and support during and leading up to the crisis.
The fire, which ignited late Tuesday morning in the Santa Monica Mountains, quickly grew from 200 acres to nearly 3,000 acres by the evening, driven by fierce Santa Ana winds. As evacuations were ordered, the fire engulfed some of the most affluent areas of the city, including Pacific Palisades, where several high profile residents lost their homes. Among the first to speak out were actress Sarah Michelle Gellar, who took to social media to criticize Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass and Governor Gavin Newsom for what they saw as mismanagement and a lack of preparation.
Sarah Michelle Gellar, the actress known for her role in Buffy the Vampire Slayer, took to Instagram to express her discontent with the city’s handling of the evacuation process. “City of LA, you want everyone to evacuate yet you have complete gridlock and not one traffic cop on the roads helping,” Gellar wrote on her Instagram story, tagging the official accounts for both Mayor Karen Bass and the City of Los Angeles.
Her post reflected the widespread frustration among evacuees, many of whom faced massive traffic jams while trying to escape the advancing flames. The lack of traffic control during an evacuation, particularly in high-stress situations like this fire, was seen as a significant oversight in emergency management.
Valentin Chmerkovskiy, former Dancing with the Stars pro, echoed similar concerns, criticizing the state’s infrastructure and the ability of firefighters to do their jobs. “5th largest economy on the planet. Firefighters didn’t have enough water pressure to do their jobs?! Are you joking me?!” he wrote on social media. “The taxes we pay for 3rd world infrastructure is unbelievable?!”
His sentiments were shared by The Hills star Sara Foster, who blasted state leaders for what she described as mismanagement of public resources. “We pay the highest taxes in California. Our fire hydrants were empty. Our vegetation was overgrown, brush not cleared… Our fire department budget was cut by our mayor,” Foster wrote, adding that the state’s priorities seemed out of wack.
Celebrity fitness expert Jillian Michaels, who lost her own home in the 2018 Woolsey Fire, also spoke out. Michaels blamed leadership for what she called “negligent” management of fire safety and resources. “The mayor is apparently in Ghana. The fire department’s budget was apparently cut by 17 mil. And someone made the decision to not refill some of the reservoirs – now some fire hydrants are dry,” she wrote. “This is beyond unacceptable.”
The Palisades Fire caused widespread devastation, particularly in the Pacific Palisades area, where several celebrities’ homes were reduced to rubble. Actor James Woods, who was forced to evacuate, posted a message on social media blaming the fire on what he called the failures of leadership, specifically singling out Governor Gavin Newsom and Mayor Karen Bass. “One doesn’t understand the first thing about fire management, and the other can’t fill the water reservoirs,” Woods tweeted.
Actor Steve Guttenberg, known for roles in Police Academy and Three Men and a Baby, sprang into action during the fire, helping to clear abandoned cars from streets clogged with evacuees. “What people do is that they abandon their cars, and it’s a crisis,” Guttenberg told Fox News Digital. “The fire trucks can’t get up the street because they have all these abandoned cars with no ability to move them.” Guttenberg assisted by moving the cars, making way for firefighters to navigate through the gridlocked streets.
Former Food Network star Sandra Lee, who also lost her home, described the emotional toll in an Instagram post the morning after the fire. “Good morning, thank you for all your well-wishes. I’m at a hotel. I don’t have a home anymore, my house is gone. It’s literally gone,” she said tearfully. “Thank God everybody is safe, but all my stuff, all the last five years of my life… it’s gone.”
As the Palisades Fire rages on and communities grapple with the aftermath, the calls for accountability from local and state officials continue to grow. Many believe that the tragedy could have been mitigated through better preparedness, clearer communication, and more efficient responses. The devastation in Pacific Palisades serves as a sobering reminder of the importance of leadership during times of crisis and the urgent need for infrastructure improvements to protect communities from the growing threat of wildfires.

Would these be the same celebrities who don’t believe in controlled burns or fire breaks, believe houses should be built in the middle of forests, and think that “climate change” is the problem?
I feel sorry for those folks who lost everyrhing! However, if you voted for your socialist politicians YOU need to have three fingers pointing back at yourself!
Those people who worship at the feet of Big Government should have their eyes opened. Government is and always has been self-serving.
The vast majority of them voted those people in. You reap what you sow. Only now, because they’re some of the ones that are affected, complain about who they voted into office. They didn’t care a bit about the rest of the population until now. Elitists all the way. Too bad, so sad… They’re not hurting, it’s the general population that will have a hard time rebuilding, even if they’re able to do so. Call the WAH-bulance for the poor “Hollywood Glitter Gang”.
You get what you vote for!
Well, maybe next time I hope they realize who they are voting for and understand what the costs are when a Politian tells you they are all for defunding your protective services, like the fire department, police, and military, you might just think back on what just happened because of them. Another problem is the rule of the FAA halting ALL air traffic around a area that has Airforce One parked at an airport. That is a good plan but use your heads and realize that the fire departments aircraft are NOT a terrorist organization. When you have situation like this, use your heads and let THEM fly, they are trying to prevent the rapid spread of a fire that could be stopped or slowed down and controlled rather than doing what just happened.
Keep voting the Demorats in you got what you voted for. Newscum did not listen to Trump he blocked getting the forest brush cleared and the water from going to the cities it went to the Ocean great job Ca. keep voting the same way it will only get worse.
This is such a sad situation. Maybe the next election things could change if they vote the right way. I just pray for all the victims and their losses. Truly a shame.
WHEN YOUR PRIORITIES ARE DEI AND OTHER WOKE GARBAGE, CLIMATE CHANGE, ALL THE THINGS THAT CAN’T BE SOLVED OVERNITE BUT ARE GIVEN AS NUMBER ONE PRIORITY, THINGS LIKE FIRE PREVENTION AND ECONOMY AND INFLATION GO TO THE BACK BURNER, LIVES OF EVERYDAY AMERICA GO BY THE WASTE SIDE, AND ALL MONIES AND PROGRAMS ARE FOR THE FUTURE AND BEYOND. WE TEND TO FORGET THE PEOPLE WHO HAVE TO LIVE TODAY, NOT 50 OR HUNDREDS OF YEARS FROM NOW. OUR LIVES ARE BEING NEGLECTED NOW BECAUSE RADICALS ONLY WANT TO THINK ABOUT THE FUTURE AND DAMN THE PEOPLE WHO ARE TRYIING TO HAVE A GOOD LIFE NOW.
LMFAO! Karma is a bitch, ain’t it? Most of you voted for these imbeciles because of DEI indoctrination. Well, guess what: you wanted it…you got it! Hopefully, that 2″ minnow that is SOOOO important to the “greenie morons” is safe after Governor Gav (trying to throw shade at good ol’ Jerry Brown) allowed BILLIONS of gallons of H2O to flow not to farmland or families, but into the ocean! Y’all sure know how to pick ’em out there, but maybe this will open your eyes and close your ears when these idiots start spinning yarns about the crap you WANT to hear!
