Clarence Thomas Pauses Lindsey Graham’s Testimony in 2020 Election Probe

-

Days after losing his bid to stall his testimony in 's Fulton County probe into former President 's alleged interference in the in Georgia, Sen. has won an unexpected reprieve.

The change comes as Justice moved to temporarily block a subpoena from an Atlanta grand jury seeking Graham's testimony in an ongoing investigation over possible criminal activity attempting to overturn the 2020 election.

Graham is one of several Republicans, including the former president, accused of pressuring Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger (R) to “find” thousands of votes to reverse Trump's loss in the Peach State to .

Graham has previously argued that his efforts constituted a legislative inquiry and should thereby shield him from demands for testimony. A panel of judges on the 11th Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals unanimously disagreed, rejecting Graham's request to block the subpoena last Thursday.

Graham's attorneys asked Thomas to intercede afterward.

As CNBC reports:

Trump pressured state officials to take actions that could have overturned Biden's victory, as part of a similar effort in other swing states whose losses by Trump ensured his defeat in the Electoral College.

The conservative justice said the subpoena would be delayed pending further order by Thomas or the Supreme Court. Two days before he issued the stay, Thomas told Fulton County, Georgia, prosecutors, who are presenting evidence to the grand jury, to respond by Thursday to Graham's request for a stay of the subpoena.

The stay will give time to Graham's lawyers and prosecutor more to file briefs arguing whether the subpoena should be allowed to stand or not.

Graham has argued that the subpoena violates the U.S. Constitution's speech and debate clause, which protects members of from legal risk from their comments related to legislative business.

Thomas, who is responsible for such emergency appeals out of the 11th Circuit, issued the stay by himself, without referring the matter to the eight other Supreme Court justices.

  1. Georgia needs to be more concerned with making sure that the number of voters equals the number of ballots instead of trying to throw up a smoke screen trying to get to Trump. If everything is on the up and up why will Fulton County not be forced to have a full audit done on their 2020 election results?

      • They know Trump won. They had to halt the election reporting to fabricate the numbers.

I know even Democrats were surprised.

Biden bragged that 2020 would be the largest voter fraud in our nations history.

The left is so confident that they always spill the beans. They want you to know. So when Nobama says he is the president, he wants to make sure YOU know it.

    • Having the number of ballots equal the number of registered voters is a good idea for all states. There’s no telling how many votes were cast by the same person, or how many dead people voted in 2020. That was always one trick that old Mayor Daly in Chicago would use to stay in office, that and another trick of his he always used was to tell people to “vote early and often”. That was one bold democrat, and it helped him stay in office for a long time
