U.S. District Judge Allison Burroughs issued a temporary restraining order on Friday preventing the Trump administration from revoking Harvard University’s certification to enroll international students. The decision offers immediate relief to over 7,000 foreign students at Harvard and halts the Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) directive that was set to take effect in the 2025–2026 academic year.
DHS had accused Harvard of fostering antisemitism and maintaining ties with foreign adversaries, citing national security concerns as justification for the revocation. Harvard contested these claims, arguing that the administration’s actions were retaliatory and infringed upon the university’s First Amendment rights and due process protections.
Judge Burroughs’ ruling ensures that Harvard can continue enrolling international students while the legal proceedings continue. Hearings to further address the case are scheduled for May 27 and 29.
The ruling follows Harvard’s lawsuit against the administration, filed on May 23, claiming the ban violates its First Amendment rights by targeting its governance and curriculum, with the suit highlighting that international students, making up 25% of Harvard’s student body, are vital to its mission.

It’s a GOOD THING to have international students at American universities b/c it helps spread American culture and valiues – yes, including all the things US college students typically (eating pizza and partying a lot more than protesting) do – around the world. Esp at Harvard b/c these are typically the children of wealthy foreigners who often end up in positions of power in their own countries. Those people especially need some degree of “Americanizing” which is what happens to them. Not the same at all as removing criminal riff-raff from the core districts of major US cities.
Simple. Arrest those responsible for not controlling the law breaking. Put enough of them in jail, and I will bet that something gets done.

Foreign students screaming Death to America! Sure, just the type of people we want in our colleges and universities. Unfortunately, depending on the SCOTUS to do the right thing is becoming harder and harder to envision. May God touch their hearts with Truth.
