DC Jail Defies Trump’s Executive Order, Holds J6 Prisoners Despite Pardons: Report

The Washington, D.C., jail is reportedly resisting President Donald Trump’s executive order by slow-walking the release of Jan. 6 prisoners, even though they have received pardons or commutations.

According to PJ Media’s Catherine Salgado, Trump’s decision to pardon or commute 1,500 individuals connected to the U.S. Capitol riot has faced pushback within the corrections system.

Why Aren’t They Being Released?

Despite the written declaration, which demands the immediate release of these individuals, social media posts indicate that many families are encountering delays. Some have even suggested physically presenting a copy of the pardon at the prison to demand action.

Elon Musk took action by resharing a message demanding that families bring Trump’s pardon to the prison.

He added that they should report any obstacles they encounter to him.

Understanding Presidential Pardon Power

The president’s authority to grant pardons is rooted in Article II, Section 2, of the Constitution. This power:

Covers Federal Offenses: Extends to all federal criminal offenses, except cases of impeachment.

Applies at Any Stage: Can be issued before legal proceedings, during them or after conviction.

Doesn’t Require Consent: A pardon takes effect regardless of whether the recipient accepts it. Acceptance doesn’t imply guilt.

The scope of this power is broad, allowing the president to entirely forgive convictions, reduce penalties or impose conditions on clemency.

What Can Be Done?

As frustrations grow, legal experts recommend that affected families consult attorneys specializing in pardons. Pardon attorneys can be found online to assist clients with the clemency application process, including pardons, expungements and sealings. Advocates are also calling for more public attention to the issue, hoping to pressure rogue correctional authorities into compliance.

What do you expect from democrat supporters who act like East German Stasi!

    Donald OConnor

President Trump should empower Elon Musk to go to the prison with physical power i.e. the national guard or equivalent to physically release these people and jail the perpetrators by force for insubordination.

    Leonard E Pribish

What did you except put all the prison personal up for Treason or send them to Gitmo. Time for new people to run the prison, I am so tired of the Demorats they will not change take their citizenship away.

IF Biden can give ”Pre-emptive Pardons” to his family who have not been charged with a crime, President Trump is able to Pardon the J6 folks that have ben convicted & those that are still held in custody & have been denied a ”speedy trial” . & have been in custody for almost 4 yrs..

    Jim Delaney

Since this posting have all the pardoned J6 prisoners there been released? If not, prison officials should be fired and/or arrested.

    BILL

The Washington, D.C., jail should be shut down for violating the order of pardons.

What a shame, now these people are being told to hire lawyers to help get their loved ones out of jail after a Presidential Pardon. What next???????????????????????????????????

I would hope that a lawsuit would be forthcoming again the DC Corrections System.

The jail authorities must immediately comply with the Presidential pardons whether they like it or not. Failure to do so IMMEDIATELY should be punished as severely and mercilessly as the DoJ did with the hundreds of innocent bystanders simply walking around the Capitol building after being invited in by police. Perhaps a couple years in prison will convince these rogue authorities that they are not the guardians of “justice” they seem to believe they are. If any of these political prisoners encounter any resistance to their release whatsoever, they and their families must press charges of unlawful confinement against these rogue prison authorities and have them relieved of their duties, stand trial and face the consequences of their fascist and unlawful actions.

The sentence here about a Pardon: “Acceptance does not imply GUILT” is incorrect: IT DOES IMPLY GUILT, AND A PARDONED PERSON MUST TESTIFY IF ASKED!
THIS IS WHY BIDEN’S WIDESPREAD PARDONS MAY TURN OUT VERY DAMNING FOR HIM – AND THOSE HE PARDONED!
AND, BASICALLY, TRUMP SHOULD NOT HAVE PARDONED BUT SIMPLY ORDERED THE FREEING OF THE 6 JAN COMMITTEE VICTIMS.
AFTER FINDING THE “COMMITTEE” GUILTY OF ‘USURPING CONGRESS POWERS’, ‘FALSIFYING EVIDENCE AND TESTIMONIES’, ISSUING UNAUTHORIZED ‘SUB-POENAS’,
THE VICTIMS COULD BE DECLARED INNOCENT AND CLAIM COMPENSATION FOR SUFFERED INJUSTICE!

Those hindering the release of the pardoned prisoners need to be put in the place of the prisoners!!!

As an American Citizen I demand that the DC prison that caused the J6 prisoners to suffer more than any prison or prisoner in the United States to be investigated and held accountable for all abuse they caused J6 prisoners. I also want all guards etc that are not legal citizens of the US to be deported and not allowed to return. We the Patriots understand foreign governments are running this prison and it should be stopped now! This is why this prison believes it has the right to do whatever it wants. Send in the National Guard to protect our citizens from more abuse while they are hoping to be released. I wish all of DC is cleaned up, no more foreign countries running anything within the US from now on. I hope we put strong laws in place to keep evil people from doing this again. No American should be subjected to the horrible abuse like the J6 prisoners received! It makes me sick knowing what they were subjected to. No country should ever own or control any part of America!

    George M

Prison personnel holding up the release should be charged/fined and jailed. The games are over President Trump’s EO stands!

    Ruth Broch

If the pardoned prisoners are not released immediately, Pres. Trump should send in the military to overpower the prison guards.

    DAV

Whatever the consequences are for refusing to carry out Trump’s order; make an example out of these people. Within your authority, of course !

    Jimbosidecar

I hate to say it, but the victims or their families need to lawyer up. I would think the threat of a huge lawsuit might speed things up a bit. And if not, then the actual ruling in court of just one of these obstructionists would cewrtainly scare the hell out of the rest of the prison officials

    Ron Boutte

This mayor is likely part of the entire J6 debacle created by bad players in our government. It should be clear what she has done.

    Marilyn Wootton

Those that denied the release of any J6 prisoner should be fired immediately.
