NEW YORK — Two Delta Connection Bombardier CRJ900 jets collided on a taxiway at LaGuardia Airport on Wednesday night, injuring a flight attendant and causing serious damage to both aircraft, authorities said.
The incident involved Delta flights 5155, bound for Roanoke, Virginia, and 5047, which had just arrived from Charlotte, North Carolina. According to initial reports, the departing plane’s wing struck the fuselage and cockpit area of the arriving jet, shattering a cockpit windscreen. The New York Post reported that a large section of one wing was torn off.
All 93 passengers and crew members evacuated safely.
Video from the scene showed flashing emergency lights surrounding the damaged planes. The injured flight attendant was treated at the airport.

The Post continues:
“We got absolutely smashed by another Delta flight. I don’t know if we hit them or they hit us, but it was super jarring,” CBS News producer Joey Annunziato, a passenger on the flight from Charlotte, said in a video recorded from his seat just moments after impact.

“Everyone shot forward in their seats and it was kind of a little chaotic as soon as it happened. We were shocked at what happened.”
Annunziato added that his plane was moving at a “decent clip” when the collision unfolded.
Another passenger, William Lusk, told ABC that his plane suddenly “stopped, jerked, and jumped to the right” just after it landed.
The National Transportation Safety Board has dispatched a team of 10 investigators and retrieved the flight data and cockpit voice recorders from both jets.
Despite the collision, LaGuardia operations were not significantly disrupted, and flights have since resumed.
