The House Select Committee to Investigate the January 6th Attack on the United States Capitol is meeting today to decide whether or not to invite former President Donald Trump and former Vice President Mike Pence to appear in person.
Committee members, starting with Chair Bennie Thompson (D-Miss.), have repeatedly said they’d like to hear from Pence and would welcome Trump’s testimony as well. Such appearances would be unprecedented.
Speaking to reporters, committee staff conceded that it’s unlikely either man will testify but that they want to extend formal invitations for the record.
CNN further reports:
Democratic Rep. Zoe Lofgren of California, a member of the panel, told CNN, “Just speaking for myself, I would like to hear from both of them. Whether we actually will is a separate question.”
A source close to Pence’s team told CNN that there have been intermittent conversations between the committee and legal counsel for Pence, but nothing has changed, meaning it’s unlikely he would testify.
Whether the panel decides to call Trump or Pence could prove to be an important data point should the committee ultimately opt to submit a criminal referral for Trump – something members of the panel say they expect to seriously consider, while such a move would be largely symbolic in nature.
“I tend to think that you will see us seriously have that debate, and I wouldn’t be surprised if we do criminal referrals,” committee member Republican Rep. Adam Kinzinger of Illinois told CNN in a recent interview. “I do think that as we come to the end of the investigation, we’ve already presented a lot to say there is some criminal culpability here.”

I hope they DO invite President Trump to testify. It will give him the opportunity to again tell the truth on public record. He did everything within his power to help secure the capitol before and during the so-called “Insurrection of Jan. 6th,” but Pelosi refused. The person who should be held responsible IS Pelosi who was warned days before and succeeded in entrapping dozens if not hundreds of innocent Trump supporters. If there are any charges to be brought, she should face them!
The only reason the committee would “invite” Trump and/or Pence is to hurl derogatory words against them. The committee is trying to get people interested in their low-grade, idiotic soap opera. It was all “made-for-TV” – they even admitted to same when they first hired some TV producer. It’s just crap. Decline the invite.

Congress can’t conduct criminal trials nor can it pass ex post facto laws pertaining to something it doesn’t like. Trump is such a threat to the government of the US and the committee is debating on indicting him- exactly what has he done that is criminal, other than scare the living hell out of the corrupt libersl deep state.

I presume that Trump will invite the Jan6 kangaroo kommittee to spindle up their invitation to appear and testify, and insert it up their backside. Is Liz Cheney still honchoing up the kommittee, or did she lose that job when Wyoming voters booted her from office? Wouldn’t the kommittee require a replacement in that case?
