As part of a sweeping effort to reshape the federal workforce, the Trump administration has reportedly ousted 405 employees from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) in a large-scale staff purge that has also affected multiple federal agencies.
According to sources familiar with the matter, the bulk of these layoffs occurred at the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), the agency responsible for disaster relief across the country. On Friday alone, 200 FEMA employees were let go. The Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) also saw significant cuts, with more than 130 workers losing their positions.
The United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) laid off at least 50 employees, while the DHS Science and Technology Directorate downsized by 10. Additionally, 12 Coast Guard personnel based in Washington—who had been working on diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives—were placed on administrative leave.
The workforce reductions were framed as a move to bolster border security efforts along the U.S. southwestern frontier, with impacted employees reportedly offered opportunities to transition into roles supporting these activities.
This round of terminations is part of a broader purge across federal agencies. Thousands of employees—many still within their probationary periods—were dismissed last week following directives from President Trump. The effort, at least partially spearheaded by Elon Musk in his role leading the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), has resulted in deep job cuts across various departments.
The Department of the Interior saw approximately 2,300 layoffs, while the Department of Veterans Affairs cut around 1,000 workers. Nearly 400 employees were let go from the Environmental Protection Agency as well.
However, not all DHS agencies were impacted. Major enforcement bodies like Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Customs and Border Protection (CBP) remained untouched by Friday’s layoffs. These agencies continue to play a central role in Trump’s second-term agenda, particularly in his crackdown on illegal immigration and efforts to tighten control over the southern border.

I guess these agencies were reviewed and apparently top heavy with employees. Makes one wonder what all of them were doing and how many job functions actually bled over to other positions. It’s about time someone is taking this seriously and doing something about it.
When a DHS employee goes on social media bragging about taking down the new Secretary Christy Noem and never following orders….these firings are way past due. As Milley did to President Trump and was ‘pardoned’ for that action by brandon…these kind of people don’t have the privilege of that pardon and need to be removed and forced to really ‘work’ for a living for a change.
I remember the spokesperson for CISA openly lying to America and saying 2020 was the most secure election ever. I hope he was one fired. He should still be prosecuted.
I am very pleased with what the President is doing! God bless him & his entire administration.
Good! FEMA is corrupt beyond belief!
