White House lawyers found five more classified documents at President Biden’s Wilmington, Delaware home on Wednesday.
The records come from Biden’s time as vice president. Lawyers for the president found one in a room adjacent to the garage, where investigators discovered government secrets next to his Corvette.
On Saturday, White House Special Counsel Richard Sauber announced the fourth discovery of improperly stored classified documents.
Sauber said lawyers immediately paused their search while they waited for authorities to transfer the documents to the Department of Justice.
Some Democrats fear the revelations have led to a political catastrophe for the administration.
One from which it might never recover.
David Gergen, a former presidential advisor to Republican and Democratic administrations, shared his opinion with CNN’s Anderson Cooper.
The Daily Wire has more on Gergen’s assessment of the “very, very big mess”:
“Not legally, but politically,” Gergen claimed. “It’s a very, very big deal.”
Gergen’s claim may not be entirely accurate, as Attorney General Merrick Garland announced last week that he appointed a special counsel to oversee the federal investigation into the scandal.
“I do think that they, that the Biden people, they may be making a big mistake,” Gergen said. “I don’t think sitting there, hunkering down now, you’re just acting like it’s not out there … they’re going to get creamed doing that.”
It took until Saturday for the White House to offer a counterargument as to why the public wasn’t told sooner, as The Hill notes:
Politically speaking, the problem is not only the passage of time in itself. It’s that the first documents came to light six days before the midterm elections.
Republicans including incoming House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) have seized on that point, insisting that the American people had a right to know about the matter when they were on the cusp of casting their ballots.
Finally, on Saturday, the president’s personal attorney, Bob Bauer, made a counterargument.
In a statement, Bauer asserted that “limitations necessary to protect the investigation’s integrity” had militated against public disclosure.
The question is, will voters buy that explanation?

He should get “creamed” over this. Both the Democrat’s and the Media don’t like to bring it up, but Biden, as VP, had Zero Authority to remove the documents in question, nor did he have the authority to declassify any of these documents.
