Private investigator Doug Hagmann, based in Erie, Pennsylvania, has raised concerns that Thomas Matthew Crooks, who attempted to assassinate President Donald Trump in July 2024, may have been part of a broader criminal network. Hagmann, hired by a private client to investigate the incident, believes this network remains active and continues to pose a threat to Trump.
The assassination attempt occurred during a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, where Crooks opened fire, resulting in one death and two injuries before he was fatally shot by a counter-sniper. Despite extensive investigations, including geofencing analysis and numerous interviews, authorities have struggled to uncover clear motives or potential accomplices.
Hagmann, claims Crooks was part of a “criminal network,” supported by evidence like electronic devices found at his home and the rally site, amid allegations of FBI obstruction in the investigation, as reported by the New York Post:
Doug Hagmann, whose team of six other investigators have been working the case for months and have interviewed more than 100 people, said they also conducted extensive geofencing analysis of cellphones and tablets not belonging to Crooks that were found with him at his home, at the rifle range where he took target practice, at the rally and at Bethel Park High School, where he graduated in 2022.

“We don’t think he acted alone,” Hagmann told The Post. “This took a lot of coordination. In my view, Crooks was handled by more than one individual and he was used for this [assassination attempt]. And I wouldn’t preclude the possibility that there were people at the rally itself helping him.”
Hagmann said one of the electronic devices geolocated with Crooks at several different places at the time of the shooting is still pinging today — at Bethel Park High School.
…
Hagmann said he was personally escorted to the Butler County line and told to leave twice during the course of his team’s investigation. The people who did so were either federal agents or some type of private security.
Adding to the controversy, a SWAT counter-sniper involved in the incident, Ben Shaffer, has supported claims by House Republicans regarding potential evidence tampering by the FBI. Concerns have been raised about the rapid cremation of Crooks’ body before an official autopsy and the swift cleaning of the rooftop from which he operated. The FBI has denied these allegations, maintaining that all procedures were conducted appropriately.
The House Task Force on the Attempted Assassination of Donald J. Trump released a final report in December 2024, highlighting significant failures in the planning and execution of security measures by the Secret Service and its law enforcement partners. The report called for a comprehensive overhaul of Secret Service leadership to address these shortcomings.
Despite these findings, the full extent of Crooks’ actions and possible conspiracies continues to be debated, leaving unresolved questions about the incident and the potential involvement of a broader network.

So someone no one has ever heard of makes outrageous claims and get lots of attention without any NEW evidence.
Seems like this guy will be running for office soon, hopefully if he files as Democrat he will fit right in.
Most telling is the TOTAL lack of updates on the investigation of this assassination attempt since a few days afterward. So, many questions have never been answered. The encrypted communications accounts, where did he get the expertise to build those bombs, all the sightings of him that day that did not result in any actions, and on and on.
