THIS IS WHEN THE FIRST BOMBS WILL DEFINITELY DROP…

The Atlantic has published a full transcript of a Signal group chat involving senior Trump administration officials, revealing detailed discussions about planned military strikes in Yemen. This group chat, organized by National Security Adviser Michael Waltz, included key figures such as Vice President JD Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth. Notably, The Atlantic‘s editor-in-chief, Jeffrey Goldberg, was inadvertently added to the chat, leading to the exposure of sensitive operational details.

The disclosed messages contained specifics about attack targets, weapon systems and sequencing of the strikes. Despite the detailed nature of these communications, administration officials, including Hegseth and CIA Director John Ratcliffe, have asserted that no classified information was shared. They maintain that the discussions, while sensitive, did not breach security protocols.

Axios provides a key excerpt of the messages that Hegseth sent to a group of 18 senior national security officials and Goldberg:

Axios‘ Zachary Basu continues:

Between the lines: Whether the messages were “classified” is not yet known, but the discussion of specific times and weapons packages are undoubtedly highly sensitive.

National security adviser Mike Waltz, who invited Goldberg to the group chat, revealed in the newly released texts that a building had collapsed and Houthi targets were positively identified.

“The first target — their top missile guy — we had positive ID of him walking into his girlfriend’s building and now its collapsed,” Waltz wrote in a text addressed to Vice President Vance.

What they’re saying: White House communications officials quickly downplayed the release of the messages, noting that the new Atlantic headline used the phrase “attack plans” rather than “war plans.”

This incident has sparked bipartisan concern over the handling of sensitive information and the use of non-secure communication channels for national security matters. Democratic lawmakers are calling for thorough investigations to assess potential risks and prevent future occurrences.

President Trump has defended his officials, particularly Michael Waltz, labeling the criticism as “unfair” and emphasizing confidence in his team’s integrity. The administration is currently reviewing communication practices to enhance security measures.

I think Jeffrey Goldberg needs to be hung up by his toes and left there forever. What a creep.

Although I disagree that Jeff Goldburg let the information out, to my kowledge does not hold a security clearnance and was not bound to hold it by anthing other than being an American. He has violated a trust indeed, and should be considered a parana from now on and never receive any information or be on any lists here to forth.

Hegseth, and probably Waltz, has President-designated “original classification authority.” So, if he says the conversation was not classified, that’s it. All the pearl clutching won’t change that. As for whether or not it should have been classified, there was very little info. Sure “strike packages,” with no numbers of aircraft, origins, or bomb load; “reapers,” with no numbers, origins, or munitions. And no targets were specifically identified by name, role or organization. As for the time stamps, one could probably have watched it live on Al Jazeera. So, unclassified is not a stretch.

Did the outcome change at all from the plan? No. Was any US Ship or personnel in immediate danger due to the error? No. What would have happend differently, if anything, had the information been not been transmitted? Nothing. Was the objective of the mission fullfilled and completed? Yes. End of discussion. These proceedings are completed.

If what is shown on this article is the full message I think the whole Hearing is nothing but a Political Exxcuse to beat on the GOP.
There is not date. No names,. No coordinates. Nothing other than the type of planes. I don’t even see anything about what country or organization that will be attacked.
The only potential result that I see is that they should not be using Signal or any other means of transmission of any meetings except maybe hack-proof lines. Of course, none of these exist.
So maybe the Democrats can do something useful and provide an alternative method of communication?

There were no dates mentioned as far as I can see, although there should have been a more secure communication I see no real security threat to the mission

The issue is root cause. That needs to be determined so that it does not happen again in the future and, that time, potentially putting plans/people in harm’s way. I was in the USAFSS and held a Top Secret Codeword Clearance doing highly confidential work daily. We received extensive training regarding the handling of classified information. I was responsible for significant communications with NSA among otherrs and I know the extent to which we went to ensure the information was protected.

gross overreaction! Dems are trying to change the overall political environment because they continue to flail away

    Bill Stephens

The incident is over and done with. It was unfortunate that Goldberg was included in the messages, but at the same time, it brought out a deficiency in the messaging process, which undoubtedly has been rectified by now. It’s time to drop the issue.

Doesn’t look like it caused any issues with the operation. WH needs to look at security procedures
(either some one goofed with dist list or they have a mole that has burrowed in).
Does not warrant anyone having to resign but these are political times fully expect screamer in opposition to say
“sky is falling” and will be end of life on earth.

Amazing that the Atlantic could never find a story when President Biden carried his son around the world on Air Force 1, met with his son’s “customers/business associates”, opened dozens of fake LLC’s and bank accounts to cover what were certainly “pay for play” dollars, and allowed anyone in the world to access classified documents in his garage and other locations – and you NEVER could find a story there.. You are a pathetic, one-sided group and should go out of business. .

    Charles Truthan

Where is the outcry about the reporter deliberately continuing to SPY on a conversation that he CLEARLY HAS NO BUSINESS being included in?

A Patriotic American would have spoken up immediately upon recognizing the security breach, and said “Hey guys, Jeffery Goldberg here. I don’t think you intended to include me in this messaging. I’m going to sign off now.”

INSTEAD, he continued to listen to the conversation, obviously RECORDING IT as well, then RELEASES IT TO THE PUBLIC, INCLUDING FOREIGN NATIONALS!

Hmmm, sure sounds like SPYING and SUPPORTING FOREIGN TERRORIST ORGANIZATIONS by publishing this information. At least to me. But what do I know? I’m just a dumb Doctor, with the academic credits equivalent to 32 PhD degrees, all completed in 6 calendar years. An Editor-in-Chief of a National News Magazine obviously is far more intelligent than I am.

I am a strong supporter of this administration and believe in my heart that the President and his cabinet are doing every single thing that was promised to the American people during the campaign. I’m proud of the team and the results of the action taken against our enemies. With that said, I also believe this was a major lapse in security and could have had any multitude of impacts on the mission results. I do not believe that this is a congressional issue or that there is a need for the congress to investigate. On the other hand, the Presidents cybersecurity team should drill down to the root-cause of this communications SNAFU, engage in correcting the causes, and provide alternatives for communications in the future for our senior officials. Our senior officials must have communications tools for instantaneous communications that are secure and protected from our enemies and the media in general. I am a 20-year retired veteran Air Force Office and Pilot that firmly believe our President and his administration will get to the bottom of this issue and correct it so that it does not happen again. I wish the best to the team and look for many more successful operations both civil and militarily in the near future. Thank you, President Trump — Chuck Petty

What kind of person, the Atlantic reporter, takes advantage of a mistake and purposely exposes the content of these texts for everyone to read! He should be charged for that. It could have remained a mistake and still protected the information shared – but this Editor-in-Chief apparently has no care for the security of our nation nor our leaders (which apparently this person has made that known before). I think this editor should have to answer for interfering with our government’s leadership and be held accountable. He could have acknowledged the mistake and worked with our government, but instead chose to use it to try and attack our leaders. What does that say about this person and their allegiance to the USA? Sounds treasonous intent to me.

    Katie

IMHO the Biden Administration did 1000+ worse things that nearly destroyed America. Illegal immigration (completely ignored laws), disastrous Afghan withdrawal, coverup by the Biden Administration and the liberal media regarding Biden’s mental state, etc., etc., etc.
