Lawyers for former President Donald Trump have urged a federal judge to shoot down the Justice Department’s request to keep reviewing documents seized during the search of Mar-a-Lago as part of its criminal investigation.

Renewing their request for an expansive independent review of records seized from Mr. Trump, the former president’s legal team argued that seized records marked as classified should remain off limits to the F.B.I. and prosecutors. They asked the judge, Aileen M. Cannon, to maintain her order barring agents from using any of the materials taken from his estate, Mar-a-Lago, until a so-called special master has vetted all of them.
The 21-page filing was an aggressive rebuke of the Justice Department’s broader inquiry into whether Mr. Trump or his aides illegally kept national security secrets at the property or obstructed the government’s repeated attempts to retrieve the materials. It played down the criminal inquiry as a “storage dispute” and insinuated that officials may have leaked information about the contents of the files.
“This investigation of the 45th president of the United States is both unprecedented and misguided,” the filing said. “In what at its core is a document storage dispute that has spiraled out of control, the government wrongfully seeks to criminalize the possession by the 45th president of his own presidential and personal records.”
The filing on Monday was the latest salvo in what threatens to become a protracted court fight over a special master and the sorts of powers that person should have in filtering the trove of seized documents. Another dispute is whether the special master’s review should extend to blocking investigators from using any records potentially protected by executive privilege.
Trump’s legal team wrote, in part, “In what at its core is a document storage dispute that has spiraled out of control, the Government wrongfully seeks to criminalize the possession by the 45th President of his own Presidential and personal records.”

They have already had plenty of time to not only “review” all of the seized documents but have already copied them, changed them to read differently & have now learned that they do not have all the copies of the stuff that will get them & the various Dem operatives arrested for the fraudulent attempts to impeach Trump. They’ve also had plenty of time to sniff all of the various underwear they sorted through numerous times!
They’ve already scanned all docs into the DOJ database just to plague President Trump in the future. As for Melania’s underwear, Hunter is wearing them.
All they’re doing is doing anything to stall until after the upcoming election with fear mongering. They have nothing unlike phony Barr claims. It’s the same game as Jan 6.
This is the beginning of the seventh year of trying to harm Trump! It is way past time to end this witch hunt!
In the meantime, no one has even attempted to seize the records that the Clintons and obama took when they left the whit house. When is obama’s presidential library and why was he allowed to retain his documents? Always a double standard and always the need for democrats to lye, cheat, and steel to retain power and further destroy the country.
They have nothing, and that scares them because our next President is going to get rid of all the bullcrap policies that are ruining our great country and letting millions of invaders in. That will stop and all illegals will need to leave ASAP
The corrupted FBI will stretch their “investigation” as long as it helps them do damage to upcoming elections whether there is anything there or not. The goal is to give the Deep Media fodder to write lies and speculation against Trump and the evil Ultra-MAGAs. We will see lots of “leaks” to the media from the FBI.
