Trump Files Move To End Georgia Election Probe

-

Could there be one less ?

On Monday, former President Donald Trump‘s legal team moved to halt the report from a special grand jury in Georgia‘s 2020 election probe.

In the 50-page filing, Trump's attorneys also seek to bar the use of any evidence derived from the report presented to a grand jury reviewing the matter. The filing also cites a series of interviews given by jury forewoman .

“The results of the investigation cannot be relied upon and, therefore, must be suppressed given the constitutional violations,” Trump's attorneys wrote in their motion in Georgia court.

Trump's attorneys requested that the motion is not heard by Fulton County Superior Court Judge Robert McBurney, who oversaw the special grand jury. (RELATED: Prosecutors Share New Tape Of Trump Pressuring Georgia House Speaker To Overturn Election)

“The whole world has watched the process of the (special purpose grand jury) unfold and what they have witnessed was a process that was confusing, flawed and, at times, unconstitutional,” the filing also said, per The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

“Given the scrutiny and gravity of the investigation and those individuals involved — namely, the movant President Donald J. Trump, this process should have been handled correctly, fairly and with deference to the law and the highest ethical standards.”

District Attorney Fani Willis (D) who is investigating whether Trump and his allies illegally interfered in the 2020 election indicated she may soon use the special grand jury's findings to pursue charges by impaneling a separate, regular grand jury.

“Decisions are imminent,” Willis told Judge Robert McBurney in January.

After the special grand jury concluded its work, Judge McBurney released three sections of the report last month.

One disclosed section said a “majority” of the special grand jury believes perjury was committed by one or more witnesses. Another unsealed section said the panel determined by “unanimous vote” that there was no widespread fraud in Georgia's that could overturn the results.

Last month, American Liberty News reported that the Georgia grand jury recommended indictments against multiple individuals. So far, no indictments have come from the probe but forewoman Kohrs seemed to indicate Trump, and others could expect to be charged. “It is not a short list,” the forewoman Kohrs said in an interview.

In an interview with CBS News, Trump's attorneys Jennifer Little and Drew Findling said the public comments by Kohrs solidified their suspicions that the investigation was tainted. The team of lawyers then raised concerns about the appearance of a “relationship” between prosecuting attorneys and the members of this grand jury.
