An explosion struck Accurate Energetic Systems, a military explosives/munitions facility near McEwen, Tennessee on Friday.
Authorities say multiple people are confirmed dead and several are missing/unaccounted for.
Secondary blasts have prevented rescue crews from initially entering parts of the site due to safety concerns.
The cause of the explosion is not yet known, and investigations are ongoing.
The plant is fairly large (eight buildings across wooded terrain) and involved in manufacturing, testing, and storage of explosives in the Hickman/Humphreys County area.
The blast was powerful enough to rattle homes miles away, and debris and damage are visible.
Local officials, including the sheriff, are working to account for missing persons and assist affected families.
