A “Student Resources” page on the website of the Arizona Department of Education (ADE) directs pre-teens to LGBT sources of information and support.
“These resources are provided to assist in the support of LGBTQ students in our schools and communities,” according to the ADE. “They were collected by members and allies of the LGBTQ+ community as part of ADE's Equitable and Inclusive Practices Advisory Council.”
One of those resources is called Gender Spectrum, which focuses on transgender pre-teens.
“Join our online pre-teen group for transgender, non-binary, and gender-expansive pre-teens,” the Gender Spectrum website says, adding that the group is for children aged 10 to 12. “This is a safe space for pre-teens who would like to meet other gender-expansive kids. All groups are facilitated by trained volunteers.”
The website also has groups for transgender children aged 13 to 16, and for those who are 17 or older.
The site says it helps students “[navigate] gender in a relaxed space.”
The ADE also lists an organization called Q Chat as a resource and directs students to that group's website.
“Q Chat Space provides online discussion groups for LGBTQ+ and questioning teens ages 13 to 19. It is not a forum. It is live and chat-based; there is no video or audio. Everyone is chatting during the same pre-scheduled time,” according to that site. “Conversations are facilitated by experienced staff who work at LGBTQ+ centers around the United States.”
The site also lists national organizations that support transgender children, including a group called “Point of Pride.”
That organization promises “life-saving affirmation.”
“Point of Pride offers an Annual Transgender Surgery Fund, a Free Chest Binder Donation Program, a Free Trans Femme Shapewear Program, an Electrolysis Financial Support Program, an HRT Access Fund, and other community-building support initiatives for trans youth and adults,” according to the ADE's website.
Other resources include the Human Rights Campaign, a well-known transgender activism group, and an organization called “Stand With Trans.”
That group is “[a] 501(c)(3) non-profit, [and] has been dedicated to developing programs, educational events, and support groups to serve the Transgender Youth,” according to the ADE. “Our mission is to provide the tools needed by transgender youth so they will be empowered, supported, and validated as they transition to their authentic life.”
It is unclear the extent to which these resources are recommended to students in classrooms across the state.
The Arizona Sun Times reached out to ADE for comment, but did not immediately hear back.

There exists a very small percentage (<0.5%) of the population who undergo reassignment surgery and are 'happy as a clam.' The rest likely have no business undergoing the rigmarole and wind up bitterly unhappy to the point of suicide. Any individual considering 'the change' must be subjected to diligent psychological evaluation, as used to be the case. Alas for the medical profession, whose Hippocratic Oath has now become the Hypocritic Oath!
“reassignment surgery” —- are you trying to make it sound like an accepted “normal” surgery instead of the perverted crap that it is !!!! The education system officials who okayed this should already be in prison for endangering the Arizona young people. I felt this country was going down the toilet back in 1969 when I returned from a very unpopular war but I never thought the people in this country could sink this deep into the sewer of perversion, corruption and disgust.

The majority of today’s American’s will never accept FREAK’S, PERIOD! No amount of trying to normalize this issue will be successful at this time. But allowing these grooming sites to exist will eventually poison our youth and indoctronate them to consider this and other deviate form’s to be just fine. A modern day Soddom and Gomorra is developing and America’s eventual fall from Grace.
I can’t help but wonder if these children are encouraged at all to seek any type of counseling that would encourage them to be sure they explore all the options and consequences of pursuing the “feelings” they have now? Are they ever told that those “feelings” can change as they grow and mature? I doubt it very much!
That is what makes these “support” resources so dangerous and they need to be shut down! But reality says that this type of malfeasance is only going to keep increasing exponentially. What a travesty.

I do not see the age at which a human brain matures being called into play. Studies vary from ages 20 to 40 but it certainly is not mature as a teen.
Such decisions to invade private ‘feelings’ and direct students to such information on a state website without parents and all citizens having a chance to make their voices heard regarding the invasion is one more way our government is striving to invade all aspects of our lives. I can’t tell you how disappointed I am in our current so-called governor, as he has allowed these types of travesties to take place. Parents are pushed to the back row of the bus, and told to be seen but not heard. This goes against what our Founders intended for our country, and instead is one more building block in the government’s quest to turn this nation Marxist. You WILL fail. We WILL stop you.
