Arizona Democratic Sen. Ruben Gallego is launching an effort to challenge a new Trump Administration immigration policy that could require many green card applicants to leave the United States and complete the process abroad.

According to a report from The Hill, Gallego is not only seeking to overturn the policy itself but is also pursuing a procedural strategy that could make it easier for Congress to reverse the change.

The dispute revolves around a recent U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) policy affecting how certain immigrants obtain lawful permanent residency.

New York’s Supreme Court ruled in favor of Governor Greg Abbott, affirming his right to continue busing migrants from Texas to New York, despite New York Mayor Eric Adams’ lawsuit.

The lawsuit was also filed against the bus companies that transported the migrants, and sought $700 million to recoup what the municipality had already spent on them.

Since April 2022, Governor Abbott has sent over 119,000 migrants to sanctuary cities, and 46,000 to New York City alone.

At the peak of Abbott’s busing program, New York City received approximately 3,500 migrants every week. Even after Governor Abbott’s pause, roughly 800 migrants still arrive on a weekly basis.

Governor Abbott hasn’t sent a migrant bus since mid-June, and the last of them were headed to Chicago and Los Angeles.

Border state governors like Abbott have been at the forefront of the illegal immigration crisis, having their communities overwhelmed with thousands of foreigners on a sometimes-daily basis, with a rapidly growing number of military aged men from hostile foreign powers like China.

Self-proclaimed sanctuary cities and states have been able to boast and virtue signal of their open mindedness and welcoming attitudes towards immigrants, no matter their legal status, far removed from the majority of the traffic and burden, border state governors have taken them to task, challenging them to put their “money where their mouths are” in recent years, as they began shipping migrants to them.

Since this started, it appears that sanctuary cities and states have bitten off more than they can chew, and preaching “tolerance” is much simpler than practicing it.

As of June of this year, a whopping 20% of New York hotels were being used to house migrants resulting in the highest rates the city has ever seen. Newly built apartment buildings are being designated to house migrants, where real estate is already hard to come by, driving one of the most expensive and competitive housing markets in the country. In one widely circulated social media video, a frustrated New Yorker notes that an apartment building that originally was originally slotted to include subsidized units will now exclusively house migrants — eliminating highly limited and sought after options from American citizens in need. By the city’s own estimates, they expect to spend $10 billion on the migrant crisis over three fiscal years, but the real numbers could be much higher. Earlier this year, a Venezuelan migrant shot two NYPD cops point blank, later claiming it was common practice in his country of origin. Another group of up to 14 Venezuelan migrants (including confirmed international gang members) were caught on camera in Times Square, brutally assaulting uniformed police officers.

Sanctuary cities and states limit and outright refuse cooperation with federal immigration authorities, often facilitating environments where illegal aliens are able to commit crimes without facing serious consequences or deportation, ultimately endangering American citizens. Kate Steinle’s killer — who murdered her in cold blood at the San Francisco Pier — admitted he chose to reside in San Francisco because he knew it was a sanctuary city, and despite his lengthy rap sheet as seven-time convicted felon and five previous deportations, he wouldn’t be deported again.

Governor Ron DeSantis famously chartered flights to Martha’s Vineyard — a luxury vacation destination frequented by some of the highest profile Democrats and left wing donors in the country, where the Obamas own a seven bedroom, eight bathroom, 6,892 square foot vacation home that sits atop almost 30 acres. Despite the island’s desperate and frantic efforts to shelter the migrants and Barack’s clear ideological commitment to open borders, the Obamas did not offer their mansion.
