-

A surprising arrest has rocked Washington, D.C. and sparked a flurry of conspiracy theories.

From liberals, convinced the accused sabotaged the 's investigation into allegations the 2016 Trump campaign was coordinating with the Russian to influence that year's presidential election.

There's just one problem.

They have no evidence.

Nonetheless, former FBI counterintelligence official 's apprehension sent Democrats and their allies' proverbial heads spinning.

McGonigal played a role in Crossfire Hurricane and now faces criminal charges that he, himself, colluded with Moscow.

He is the highest-ranking FBI official ever charged with a and has pleaded not guilty at separate indictments in New York and Washington.

The Washington Times continues:

Those charges have spurred wild accusations from the left that Mr. McGonigal threw the 2016 election for Mr. Trump and then used his influence within the bureau to exonerate the eventual president and his allies of potential crimes.

There is no basis for either claim, but that hasn't stopped Democrats from throwing it into the public domain and left-wing media outlets from echoing it.

“[McGonigal] may have knowledge of or have participated in political activities to damage then-candidate Hillary Clinton and help then-candidate ,” Sen. , Rhode Island Democrat, wrote in a letter in February to Attorney General .

Chairman Richard J. Durbin, Illinois Democrat, demanded that Mr. Garland brief lawmakers about Mr. McGonigal's involvement in the Trump-Russia investigation.

Meanwhile, disgraced ex-MSNBC host Keith Olbermann and The New Republic have given credence to conspiracies alleging a systemic right-wing bias at the bureau.

The Senate Judiciary Committee is scheduled to question Attorney General Garland about the indicted former FBI agent today.

Observers expect him to receive a grilling from both sides.

  1. When don’t the democrats complain! The corruption in the government is disgusting! When is Nancy Pelosi going to be charged? Keith is a loser. He loves the limelight and will say anything to stay there.

  2. Chris Wray just said yesterday on the Brett Bear show that their isn’t one bad apple in the FBI barrel, not a one! And he claims that they treat both political parties exactly the same! Now is there anyone out there that would love to buy a bridge? Anyone?
