Justice Department Warns Abbott, Threatens To File Legal Action Against Texas

-

After assessing reports of mistreated migrants, the Justice Department informed Gov. on Thursday evening that it would file legal action against the Lone Star State if necessary.

According to sources familiar with the matter and documents obtained by , DOJ plans to challenge the placement of floating barriers in the as part of Abbott's operation to cut down on illegal border crossings.

The Mexican complained to the U.S. government over the deployment of the floating barriers last week. In a letter to Washington, D.C., claimed Texas' makeshift obstacle violates international law. (RELATED: Abbott: County's Ballot Paper Shortage May Necessitate New Elections)

DOJ is reportedly giving Abbott time to respond and avoid a drawn-out legal battle. (RELATED: Video Shows Biden Sent Troops To Border To Open Gates)

CNN continues:

“The State of Texas's actions violate federal law, raise humanitarian concerns, present serious risks to public safety and the environment, and may interfere with the federal government's ability to carry out its official duties,” the letter stated.

This is separate from the ongoing assessment of mistreatment of migrants, which the Justice Department described as “troubling reports.”

CNN is reaching out to Abbott's office for comment. CNN has also reached out the Texas Department of Public Safety but has not received a response.

The Justice Department has sued on border-related matters before. Last year, the Justice Department sued for placing shipping containers along the US southern border – a move taken by then-Republican Gov. Doug Ducey as an affront to Biden's immigration policies. Arizona eventually agreed to remove the containers.

  1. I like this move by Abbott. Just put the disclaimer where all can see. If attempting to cross this barrier you may lose your life.

    • Why is Biden, and his strong arm justice department, think that nothing should be done to stop, or at least slow down, the numbers of people coming into this country illegally ?

      • It’s because he’s on their side; he’s a disgusting traitor and should be arrested for it. He and his commie minions stole the election so that they could do this to us and finish destoying this country.

        • The stated goals of the leftists in the US and Canada are to change things so that they cannot be undone….and it’s working.

  2. “The DOJ plans to file charges”. That means Merrick Garland ordered by Beijing Joe. As the alleged president Biden’s FIRST responsibility is to “protect American citizens lives and property from foreign invaders and criminals. The illegal aliens trying to cross our borders qualify for both of the types of people that Biden IS SUPPOSED TO PROTECT US FROM. Why isn’t Congress going after Biden and his entire administration for failing to honor his oath when he took office?? These invaders have no rights to set foot on U.S. soil without going through the proper procedure.

  3. Just put the FBI on the case to have the Texas Governor arrested, tried by one of the Kangaroo Kourts, and sent to the same Gulag where the Jan6 political prisoners are held, same as they do with others who disagree with Biden’s agenda. We cannot have non-federal politicians putting up roadblocks to the Dems’ alien invasion.

  4. The alligator population along the Santee River near Georgetown, SC is exploding. Some of the critters ought to be relocated to the Texas boarder to help with culling the flow of illegals. We won’t miss the gators. What size do you want?

  5. Placing man-made barriers in a river that is an international border is always problematic. Remember President George W. Bush’s “fence”? much of it was up to a mile inland from the river, effectively fencing out American citizens who lived near the border. Anything IN the river will create a problem if the river current changes. The best thing to do is to stock the Rio Grande with alligators from the nearby Brazos river and others, and let nature take its course.

  6. There have been a lot of people who have drowned already in the river because they thought they could cross. These should help discourage people from trying to cross.
btw, the razor wire is on private property which you can do in Texas and the property owners give permission for DOS to be there.
I bet AMLO doesn’t like the barriers because he’s afraid his propinas will be reduced.

  7. too bad, so sad. Good going Abbott!! at least he’s doing something about this mess since our lazy worthless government isn’t doing a .. thing…

  8. Stop referring to the Republicans as “red states” and the Democrats as “blue states.” Worldwide except for the US the color “red” refers to communists and the left. Our Union uniforms were blue. The AP made a decision in the 2000 election away from the Republicans. If you must, use Rep. and Dem. to identify the states. You are supporting the left ever time you call Republicans “red.:”
