Police Respond to Teen With Self-Inflicted Stab Wounds at Ted Cruz’s Home

swarmed the home of Sen. last night, responding to reports of an unnamed 14-year-old with self-inflicted stab wounds on her .

Representatives for the senator have since issued a statement:

This is a family matter, and thankfully their daughter is OK. There were no serious injuries. 

The family requests that the respect their daughter's privacy at this time.

Cruz and his wife have two daughters, ages 11 and 14.

Houston's KHOU-TV has more:

Sources with the Houston Police Department said they showed up at Cruz's house after getting a “self-inflicted cutting” call.

When police got there, they said they determined nothing criminal happened and they left.

One person was taken to a hospital for treatment. Their condition is unknown but they're expected to be OK, according to police.

  1. “Cutting” is the latest fad and attention-getter among teenaged girls. They don’t “stab”, they just put superficial cuts on their arms with some sharp object. If they cut a vein or artery, these cuts can be serious. Psychological interventions are called for. Our neighbor’s 15-year-old daughter spent three days in the nut-house for cutting.
