Former Vice President Kamala Harris is now reportedly under the protection of Los Angeles police officers after President Donald Trump ended her extended Secret Service protection last week.
Unmarked SUVs with plainclothes officers have been seen stationed outside Harris’s Brentwood home, where she lives with her husband Doug Emhoff, the New York Post reported.
As many as 14 of LAPD’s elite Metro Division officers have been “pulled from working cases” and “crime suppression efforts” to provide security for Harris, local outlet FOX 11 reported on Wednesday.

Ex-vice presidents typically receive six months of coverage after leaving office, but former President Joe Biden extended Harris’s security for a full year before leaving office in January.
That is the order Trump canceled in his letter, titled “Memorandum for the Secretary of Homeland Security” and dated Thursday.
Harris’ husband, Doug Emhoff, lost his own personal detail on July 21 under the standard provisions for a former vice president’s spouse.
Democrats, however, including Los Angeles mayor Karen Bass ripped the decision as an “act of revenge.”
“This is another act of revenge following a long list of political retaliation in the form of firings, the revoking of security clearances and more. This puts the former Vice President in danger and I look forward to working with the Governor to make sure Vice President Harris is safe in Los Angeles,” Bass told CNN in a statement.
Subsequently, reports surfaced that Governor Gavin Newsom is weighing additional protection through the California Highway Patrol.
A Newsom spokesperson declined to confirm the security arrangement but said: “The safety of our public officials should never be subject to erratic, vindictive political impulses.”

Maybe someone ought to tell gruesome that kamalala ain’t a ‘public official’ anymore and thus is no more ‘deserving’ of a protective detail than any other ordinary Citizen.
Wait a minute, didn’t she claim a while back to own a Glock? IOW she can manage to protect herself like millions of plain old ordinary people have to do.
FYI Newsom spokesperson – Harris is not a public official and hasn’t been since 1-20-2025. (A Newsom spokesperson said: “The safety of our public officials should never be subject to erratic, vindictive political impulses.”) Harris got her 6 month coverage that is standard for Ex-vice presidents. If she still needs protection let her pay for it like all other private citizens do.
