CNN President Announces New On-Air Talent Amid Network Purge

-

's new leader, , has announced two new major hires to the network's roster of on-air talent. On Tuesday, Licht announced the additions of former CBS News correspondent John Miller and Dr. Tara Narula.

Miller, who recently served as Deputy Commissioner of Intelligence & Counterterrorism for the NYPD and as a former correspondent for CBS News and ABC News joins CNN as its chief and intelligence analyst.

The Daily Wire reports:

Miller has covered major news stories like the Boston Marathon bombings and September 11 terrorist attacks and famously landed an extensive on-camera interview with al-Qaeda leader and 9/11 mastermind Osama bin Laden.

“John will help deliver on CNN's commitment to tackle complex issues while presenting audiences with independent, objective news and meaningful analysis across platforms,” Licht said. “As both a brilliant journalist and experienced, compelling subject matter expert, he brings to the network an incredible breadth of knowledge.”

“I've worked closely with Chris Licht and share his editorial vision: speed, but not at the expense of accuracy, passion but not at the expense of objectivity,” Miller said. “I am especially proud to join CNN at a time when covering the news, getting it right and delivering it in a straightforward way has never been more vital to the American public.”

Dr. Narula, who previously worked at CBS News as their senior medical correspondent, joins CNN to serve as the network's new medical correspondent.

The two new hires follow a string of high-profile departures from the network at Licht works to revamp CNN's image and return the network to its straight-news roots. The new CNN CEO recently fired “Reliable Sources” host Brian Stelter and is reportedly considering axing other highly partisan hosts such as Jim Acosta and Brianna Keilar. “People are freaked out,” one CNN journalist said. “It almost feels like there's a pattern. Is there a purge going on? They seem to be sending a message: ‘Watch what you say. Watch what you do.'”

  1. Boston marathon bombing, September 11, osama bin laden interview – Miller sounds like the typical deep state plant propaganda outlets like CNN would employ. Way to keep up the stats quo!

    • Tup, if they cannot report the truth, they should be fired., Because some of them might be paid by our enemies, especially their barbaric attacks on Pre. Trump for years to now. who knows.

  2. Disrespectful Jim Acosta and the little drunk Don Lemon should be axed immediately. They have both ruined the reputation of “journalists” everywhere. Until those two are gone, I won’t believe the bosses are serious about turning this network around.

    • Yes, change the name to something truthful because now, people call CNN as the “corrupt news network” and that is very hard to erase in people’s mind.

  3. It is about time CNN bosses realize how bad their partisan reporting is and we hope they can regain their lost credibility. They have insulted the intelligence of the American public long enough and became the laughing stock of the world. BRAVO Chris Litch

  4. I would welcome a straight-nrws channel. I want to know what happened, not someone’s opinion about what happened. I’m just not sure that CNN can do that after the extreme bias we’ve seen from them.

    • You won’t get it. Not from CNN or Fox. Pick your poison. There is no straight news anymore. Walter Kronkite is not walking through that door.

    • The extent of the changes thus far made by Mr. LIcht, tho’ laudable, are hardly sufficient to atone for the network’s performance just during the 2020 election. It certainly isn’t enough to clean out the Augean Stable that CNN has spent over 30 years creating. Short of firing everyone who’s been there more than six months and changing the name. logo, theme music and every other distinguishing feature, I cannot imagine CNN ever recovering; It might as well not even be an option on my TV at the moment and nothing has transpired which has changed my attitude enough to give it a chance.

      • Changing their name. In the Bible is a verse. “Can a leopard change his spots , or an Ethiopian the color of his skin?”
How about “ZNN”??? You know , on the early NCIS T.V. show?

  5. I applaud the efforts thus far made by Mr. Licht in his attempt to restore some degree of objectivity to CNN and tho’ the departure of hacks like Chris Cuomo and Brian Stelter are certainly a good start, we are still stuck with people like “Gloria’s Son” Cooper, Don “Lih-MOHN”, and the terminally unfunny Trevor Noah. You can’t erase over 30 years of trash talk masquerading as news by getting rid of a handful of propagandists. The purge has to cut deeper and extend more broadly. You simply cannot get rid of the stench with a light scrubbing or restore the network’s credibility by booting a few people who never should have had a job in the first place and, thus far, that’s the extent of the changes made. Mr. Licht is on the right track but he’s got a long row to hoe and it’s by no means likely, let alone certain, that he can undo the damage which CNN has done to itself.

  6. I USED TO ENJOY CNN NEWS WHEN I TRAVELED A GREAT DEAL YEARS AGO. WHEN THEY BECAME A POLITICAL ARM OF THE DEMOCRATS, I REFUSED TO WATCH. IF THEY RETURN TO HONEST NEWS COVERAGE, I WILL CERTAINLY WATCH.

  7. I only watch certain people on Fox News that are not bias toward the Democratic party. Never watched Chris Wallace, Brett Bair, the pair on Sunday news, Cavato and many others. If CNN has some Conservative commentators I will watch them.
