Another familiar face at CNN is departing. On Friday, longtime reporter John Harwood announced he is leaving the network.
“Today’s my last day at CNN,” Harwood said, adding he was “proud of the work” he did at the network and was “lucky to serve the best in American media” before listing previous career stops at CNBC, The New York Times and The Wall Street Journal.
Harwood joined CNN as a White House correspondent in 2020.
The reporter’s sudden departure marks the latest in a series of high-profile departures from the network as incoming President Chris Licht cleans house in an effort to move away from partisan coverage toward the network’s news-first roots. Last month, Licht canceled the Sunday media show “Reliable Sources” and the network parted ways with its host, Brian Stelter.
Harwood did not reveal if leaving CNN was his choice or if he was forced out.
