Dave Chappelle made his highly anticipated return to Saturday Night Live (SNL) this weekend, bringing with him his signature sharp wit, controversial humor, and insightful commentary. The comedian, dressed in a sleek suit and cigarette in hand, took the stage for a nearly 20-minute monologue that touched on a wide array of topics, including the upcoming presidential inauguration, the devastating Los Angeles wildfires, and the latest Hollywood scandals.
As usual, Chappelle’s humor was as cutting as it was thought-provoking, balancing jokes with moments of genuine reflection. But one of the most notable parts of his routine was a heartfelt message to President-elect Donald Trump, whom Chappelle wished well as he prepared to embark on his second term.
“The presidency is no place for petty people,” Chappelle said, exhaling a puff of smoke. “So, Donald Trump, I know you watch the show. Remember, whether people voted for you or not, they’re all counting on you.”
He continued with a message that felt both personal and universal: “Whether they like you or not, they’re all counting on you. The whole world is counting on you.”
“I mean this when I say this: Good luck. Please, do better next time. Please, all of us, do better next time. Do not forget your humanity. And please, have empathy for displaced people, whether they’re in the Palisades or Palestine.”
In addition to his heartfelt remarks about the change in America’s leadership, he also joked about current events, leaving nothing off limits. He referenced the fires ravaging Los Angeles, saying, “The other day on the news, they said these fires were the most expensive tragedy that ever happened in the United States’ history. I think that’s because people in L.A. have nice stuff. I could burn 40,000 acres in Mississippi for like six or seven dollars.”
“If you were a rational, thinking person, you’d have to at least consider the possibility that God hates these people,” Chappelle quipped.
In another moment that sparked laughs (and some groans), Chappelle riffed on President Trump’s infamous comment about Haitians in Springfield, Ohio, in which he claimed that Haitians were kidnapping and eating people’s dogs and cats.
“Every day I’d drive over to Springfield and eat lunch at the Haitian restaurant. And to be honest with you, I don’t know what that meat was. But whatever it was, it fell right off the bone.”
Chappelle’s return to SNL offered another example of his ability to blend humor with social commentary. His routine balanced politics, current events, and cultural critiques, all while keeping the audience laughing at his acerbic takes on some of the most serious issues facing America today.

This guy’s just another one of those people that Mr. Trump really shouldn’t pay any attention to under any circumstances.
I bet he’s happy that President Trump won.
The Black Board Of Racist Marxists and Wokians almost rolled over him for not complying.
